Just downloaded EAW 1.29 and the NGlide. Open up EAW selected Grafics and clicked on Glide. Started a single mission, selected acft and clicked on Fly Mission. 3dfx screen flashed, screen went black the sent me back to desk top. Any ideas? Use windows 10

Where did you get 1.29 from?

It might be the eaw.ini included. Delete it and let the game make its own.

I down loaded it from Col Gibbon on the Mediafire web site. I guess a bad download. What do you suggest? I deleted the download.

Col Gibbon asked me to make a "barebones" 1.29 exe without the bells and whistles as a private release just for his modding.
There was already a 1.29 release available with a filemanager and several theatres (DAW, SPAW etc) and a heap of planes and planesets, but he did not want it.
So I made the private release for him, but sometime later he released it publicly. It does work, but it is absolutely basic.
I was justifiably angry but he refused to delete it fromMediaFire.

If you really want 1.29 then check this thread, but you could jump straight to 160

Thanks for the info. I am a 76 yr old and not so sharp on computers. I played EAW years ago and loved it. I would like to get back into it but I need a simple as posable download. I get lost quickly with computer talk. Can you recommend a download that I might use.

You get a 7-zip self installer named "EAW126.exe" and when you run it it creates a working "EAW126" folder in the same directory which is a complete installation.
Make sure that your Joystick is plugged in when you first run the "eaw.exe" in the folder.

Thanks Mr Jelly. You make me feel young. You are obviously sharper than the average bear. I gave my joy stick away years ago. So I guess I need to get another before I down load the game is that right?

Some players have very sophistcated joysticks, but I am happy with my Logitech Extreme 3D PRO.

Same stick I use It's very good and stable..got one used last year at a computer shop for $5 and it was never used at all and the price was great always good to have a spare

Bought a joy stick today. Plugged it in and down loaded the program Mr Jelly recommended. Program seems to work great. My problem is I am unable to assign buttons on the joy stick. Any Ideas?

Copy the text in blue and paste it into your "eaw.ini" file so that it overwrites what is there

Android..Did you go into control panel and see if you stick has been recognized,,?? Quickest way is do a search for USB controllers in the search box and see if it shows up and select use it for older programs

I have been using the 126 exe download and it works fine. As I remember when I flew EAW before there were missions where I could chase down V2 rockets and such. Is there a patch or something to where I could expand the range of things to do with this download?

v1.26 is practically the stock game, the only changes are NoOS version (it will no longer check if it can run on other Windows versions) and a so called canon fix, meant to make AI use their canons more often. So your V1 intercepts are still part of the game, both in single mission mode as in campaign mode.

The V1 can only appear in the latest part of the war, so whichever you fly you must select 1944 or 1945 as the mission or campaign year. In campaign mode the appearance of V1's are preprogrammed so you can't really change much as to when it appears, selecting a certain planetype may have some influence though.

In single mission mode you should select an Allied intercept mission and set primary enemy aircraft to V1, secondary enemy planes will be greyed out. In EAWPRO the V1 can appear in any mission type when selected as either primary or secondary enemy, and it's flyable too. However to get diver behaviour the plane should be set as none flyable in the PLANES.DAT, but it's set to flyable by default, meaning it's using AI behaviour and not flying straight and level as when set to none flyable.
