Hi all, pilot
AoE is ready and you can download it.
All multiskin aircraft are available, for everyone, to improve EAW version 1.60.
For personal problems, I did not have time to make any further changes to the game, but correcting some errors I found in some skins, I noticed that the game is quite stable with rare CTDs.
Remember to visit the EXTRAS directory where you will find the instructions both in Italian and of course in English.
The terrain is the default one and I have not added any objects in HD. This is something that can be done in the future, but I think it would be better to go from version 1.28C to version 1.60.

I hope you enjoy

This looks fantastic Modred! Thank you so much for all of the time and effort you've put into this mod. Can you tell me more about what the mod does to EAW? Super curious to try it out!

Cheers!

Thanks Modred looking forward to taking it for a fly,,One question is it stand alone or does it go over a clean 1,2 or 1.28 install?? OK I see i's got a 1.28c label in the corner/

I wish that you had sent me a copy before releasing it. The RAF selection screen has a photo of a Lancaster CF-Y PB154. The crew shown is not the one of my uncle's, but he and the rest of his crew were killed in that very plane on November 4th 1944 frown

Running windows 10 and using the desktop shortcut gives me the startup screen but no mouse cursor. I cannot select anything.
Checking I find that the link is to the "aoe.exe" file. Even if the mouse worked that program could not be used online because the EAW multiplayer code demands that the exe is an "eaw.exe".
There is a 1.28C "eaw.exe" in the folder that works.

I have copied and pasted the entire folder into another location, and I will uninstall AOE in line with many recommendations of not having versions of EAW installed in the C://programs folder.

wink Jel

I have it running using a "Dir.set" file and a tidy installation in my 640x480 1.28E folder.

This allows me to do more things, such as having a "seasons" folder and not having the default terrain:

I miss the ability to set mission dates and times in line with sunrise or sunset in other versions.
You can do it in this version wink

I'm sorry, Jel, but I know the story because I read it when you published it. By inserting the photo you published, I thought of honoring in some way those men who died for freedom. Above all, photography is very touching (for me).

I could not test the game with Win10 because I do not have that operating system.
Anyway, I put in the root directory AOE.EXE and EAW.EXE for a simple reason. AOE.EXE is for offline play and EAW.EXE is for online gaming (Gameranger). Clearly when I prepared the installation file I thought about playing offline and then I created a path connected to AOE.EXE.

A number of people have asked for the 1.29 version, so here is the set-up using the "DSP128-9.exe"

[Linked Image]

Make sure you select "Modred's Aces over Europe". This bring sup the planeset list and you need to select "1" so that the planeset number is edited into the "eaw.ini" file.
If you have done that correctly the list of aircraft will be shown as in the screenie, and you can click "fly"

EDIT:

In the "eaw.ini" file you will find this in the [EAW] section

OldStyle=0

If the value is "1" the traditional 1.2 style selection screens appear, but if it is "0" the newer 1.28 series selection screens appear with just Allied and Axis
This applies to the 1.28c version too.
The reason that I mention it is that I just tried the 1.29 version after clicking "Use the default EAW aircraft". This sets the planeset to zero, and uses the default skins and FMs from the CDFs
I was able to make a more accurate aircraft selection with "OldStyle=0" because the correct names appear. Otherwise the aircraft names are coming from Modred's menu files for the "PicPln" screens, and some do not match the default aircraft names.

wink Jel
