Don’t know if anyone still flies this sim or not but if you do and you need some new missions to fly email me at

Lee61156@aol.com

I just finished seven missions flown from Osan AB in South Korea against targets in the north. The missions are flown at night as they would be in the real world and that works since I can’t change the terrain color in this sim like I have in JF18.

Post here if you’re interested but you must email me also.

Glad to hear you're still mission building. I've got Janes F18 working fine on my Windows 7 setup and literally a day before you posted got Janes F15 working. I think it is probably a bit early to do intense night missions as I am still trying to get to grips with systems . I would value your opinion on using the mission builder. I have had no problem making simple missions in F18 to practise but when I try to contruct them in F15 the game crashes to desktop when I hit the save button. Any ideas ?
Thanks Tim

I have it running on Win 7 Home Premium 64 bit. I have Compatibility Set for Windows XP SP3.

Mission builder works and can save missions.

BUT! I just realized that when I go into the LOAD Single Mission, it does not show all the missions in the Mission folder, including the test mission I saved from the Mission Builder. Only shows the default missions and there is no scroll bar.. Somehow I remember there was a fix for this, but I cannot remember what it was.

I tried Win98/Me compatibility as well to no avail.

Training mission menu does have scroll bars but when I try to save the Mission to the TRAINING folder, it doesn't show up either.

Some strange DATE issue?????

HAH! Not sure it is relevant... but a post from the past, coincidentally RECLUSE and DRAGON!!!

The Foldersort in the Link from the old thread was NOT the foldersort I was thinking of. That one ONLY sorts by size. It doesn't alter the sort attributes of a folder.... back to the drawing board!!

I found another utility from NIRSOFT and I changed the dates on the new files to 1998. No Joy! Not date related apparently.....still stuck..

Check this thread:

especially Andromedius post: http://SimHQ.com/forum/ubbthreads.p...-15-menu-glitch-to-be-tested#Post3859545

I see in my folder I have that aqrit utility that he mentions, which, I believe I needed to fix the menus. I did remove the MOVIES folder as well. Aside from the inability to add any missions, it flies OK and doesn't crash in the Mission Builder..

I DID NOT ADD TO STEAM AS SUGGESTED IN THAT THREAD....

OK.. I am tired of editing that post so I am replying to myself. I am an idiot....

SO here's what I did:

I deleted ALL the missions from the MISSION Folder except for the new ones. I started up F-15... ALL THE ORIGINAL MISSIONS WERE IN THE LOAD SCREEN AND FLYABLE... WTF!!!!
Then I checked the Registry and it showed the Mission Folder and all the other F-15 related folders on the C: drive instead of the D: drive where I was launching from!!

Apparently, I loaded originally on C, and then copied it over to D: when I got a larger D drive. So even though I was launching from D, the REGISTRY was pointing to the Mission Folder on C:!!! Problem solved... Sheesh...

Hi, Recluse,

Glad you sorted it out ! I'm currently revisiting those good old sims again after a long hiatus and boy is it still a blast !.

As you mentioned in your previous post adding F15.EXE to Steam is unnecessary : all you have to do is create a shortcut from the game's original EXE.
I never took the time to address some errors by writing an appropriate guide for Jane's F-15 but I remember pretty much experimenting with lots of trial and error at the time. This thread kept on growing and it means that some important infos can be difficult to dectect.
It was a lot of fun to get Jane's F-15 flying again with all the input of the community, though.

I'd love to experiment a little more on Jane's IAF which is currently playable but is pretty messed up graphicwise.
I'll see if I can come up with new ideas about it.

Fly safe,

Over and out,

Andromedius.

Hi Andromedius,

Glad you jumped in this thread. I tried for a very long time to get IAF running on Windows XP with all the various compatibility patches with no luck. Got it up and running on Windows 7 easily, but, as you mention, the graphics were pretty bad. Still it was flyable, but I could never seem to pass the landing circuit training mission :-)

Got USAF running well, but as with all the other times I have tried it, it just didn't grab me the way it has grabbed others. I also felt there were still some odd flight model issues (nose bobbing etc..) that always ruined the enjoyment. OF course, as with many of my forays into retro sims, once the long fight to get it running was over, the interest in actually FLYING was quite diminished. MiG Alley was another sim I couldn't get to run well on XP, but loaded up and worked first time on WIn 7. One of these days I will fly it.

Meanwhile, the Janes' sims, even the ancient FIghter Anthology seem to hold my interest. I loved F-15, but then Janes F.A-18 replaced it and improved on many things so it was hard to go back. I am now flying familiarity missions in BOTH of them and they are still lots of fun.
