Stumbled across this article about the events leading up the crash and what followed. Based on Navy released reports and testimony given to Congress. The authors link to the reports, so I assume they are fairly accurate.
It's a long article as they go into some depth. I hope this isn't PWEC territory. My apologies if it is. I'll have to admit, I didn't think the manpower and training problems were that bad.
