I have a question: Are all the old good threads of this board "Naval Simulations" somehow lost or inaccessible?

I can at least see them on web-archive, but when I use a link such as http://www.SimHQ.com/forum/ubbthreads.php?ubb=postlist&Board=106
then all I get is an error that I am not logged in - THOUGH I AM.

Please help. There are so many good threads.

Try searching Google using the thread title and SimHQ in the search bar. It may not find you all the threads but the two I searched I found that way.

Is there any way to OPEN such old threads that are visible as described above and construct a working link?

Try:
- go to the Naval Simulations section
- scroll to the bottom of the page "Category Display Options"
- set "Show From Previous" to "All Threads"
- click on the "Change" button.

Hm. That was not quite what I meant, the earliest threads I can have the forum display with your method are from 1999, nothing before that date.

Let me therefore give you an example. I mentioned the link above (http://www.SimHQ.com/forum/ubbthreads.php?ubb=postlist&Board=106),
and when I put that into WEB-ARCHiVE, e.g. https://web.archive.org/web/2008020...bbthreads.php?ubb=postlist&Board=106
I can then even see threads BEFORE 1999 - which your method does apparently not allow.

I would say that further back than 1999 is probably gone from the SimHQ forum host server.
