I'm not very familiar with him but I do remember that duet he did with Linda Ronstadt very well since MTV played the hell out of that video.

Typical silly 80's high school movie, "The Last American Virgin" (1982).

Beta falls in love with the new chick (also in "Better Off Dead") but she has the hots for his best friend, a jerk-off alpha. Alpha knocks her up and then shuns her, meanwhile beta gives her emotional support then hocks his stuff to help her pay for abortion. She's coming around to him, or so he thinks until the end of the movie shown below, topped off by James Ingram's biggest hit.
