I really enjoyed watching all 27 minutes of this compilation and plan on watching the 90's version later.

Here is the Wiki list of the 80's #1 songs so you can check them a little easier

Wiki: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Billboard_Hot_100_number-one_singles_of_the_1980s

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
What stood out for you? What observations did you have?
for me as I have always said is that even a list of #1 songs shows the diversity of the decade
It is cool to see the transition of the music
I expected Bob Seger's #1 to be Old Time Rock and Roll (which topped out at #48!)
U2 only twice, both off of Joshua Tree
Purple Rain did not get to #1
recognized and remembered all of them except "When I'm With You" by Sheriff in 1989, no recollection of that song or band at all
I didn’t watch the entire video but one thing that struck me is that by 1980 disco was already on the wane and on its way out.
Disco Demolition Night at Comiskey Park in 1979 and the surrounding media coverage helped bring about its demise.
Heck, even the movie "Airplane" which came out in 1980 had a joke about the demise of disco.
That is pretty ridiculous as it is just an excerpt of the songs, hopefully the uploader can get it back up .
I guess I understand now when a YouTuber vlogger will sometimes walk out of a place if they have music playing over the speakers
Yeah, looks like Funky Town in May of 1980 is the last straight up disco song to hit #1
also many songs that only had a week at #1 surprised me because of MTV, I would have thought something A-Ha's Take On Me would have been more than a week as big as it was on MTV (I am sure that is a big part of why it got to #1 for even that week)
I remember in the early 1980's a local radio station, WRIF, had a club you could join. It was D.R.E.A.D. Detroit Rockers Engaged in the Abolition of Disco. I remember I had a gold DREAD card. Almost everyone I knew did too. That was back when FM radio ruled the land.
It was a much simpler time. We merely had to work 40 hours and party the rest of the time. I don't really remember much of what I did during the 80s and I never thought about the future, but i do remember that I liked that time period better than I like this time period.
Spoken like a true old guy. GET OFF OF MY LAWN!. I do remember this from the 80s, and seeing it performed live!
