So....... Who has it and what are your impressions?

I'm more impressed with the multiplayer than I thought I would be.

Great game.

I just watched a couple of game play videos. It looks more like an adventure game with planes thrown in the mix. It's way too "arcadey" for my tastes.

To each their own of course. smile

Oh yeah it's arcadey and I love DCS etc but for those times you just get home from work, sit with a beer and play something on a console which isn't the usual FPS, it scratches the itch.

Got it after watching a Digital Foundry´ s video on release day and enjoy it for some quick arcade action on console which isn´ t a FPS for a change as you already mentioned.
Though absolutely not needed it works like a charm with my Thrustmaster HOTAS which I got for Elite Dangerous on xBox months ago.

Surprisingly the game got me interested in Flightsims on PC again. A genre I didn´ t touch in ages.
Already dusting off my old CH setup, reconfiguring TrackIR and relearning the basics in IL-2 BoS. And thinking about giving DCS a try. biggrin

I play both DCS and IL-2 BoS quite regularly. Both sims have been greatly improved with recent updates.

I will be playing it on PC of course. Waiting for release.

I do find it interesting that Ace Combat gets knocked for not being a simulator, but then many of the same people turn around and play something like The Witcher, Tomb Raider or Battlefield. Not referring to anyone in particular, but every time an Ace Combat thread pops up I see similar complaints on various forums.

Does it compare more to 4 and 5, or more to Zero/6/ Assault Horizon? The later Ace Combats didn't really do it for me, but 4 and 5 were really good smile

I'll have it on release at the end of the month/1st, whatever it is. Getting great reviews as the best AC yet. I think the steam pre-order (maybe all?) has an F-4 that could be fun.

I'm pretty confused with it. You get three skins and the F-4E if you pre-order, but it looks like it will be available to anyone who purchases before 3/4/2019. I'm not sure if this only occurs if purchased from Steam directly and certain other stores. Green Man Gaming seems to advertise the bonus content. The version with the pre-order stuff is called the "Launch Edition". Perhaps it doesn't matter where purchased as long as you activate the key by 3/4/2019. Or maybe only certain stores will send you an additional CD key for the bonus content.

Sounds like to be on the safe side, buy from Steam or Green Man Gaming. Maybe Amazon but I didn't check for them yet.

I'd like to get it at some point, probably pc for assured 60fps. I have the original PS4 so it sounds like it gets around 50fps or below. A game like this needs that fluid 60 in my opinion. I had forgotten but apparently AC4 had 60fps on PS2 back in the day. Its been a long time so I don't remember. However I do remember how much I enjoyed the game and the first time I saw it. I saw AC4 being demoed in a CompUSA and even though I've always been a big PC simmer, I thought it was one of the coolest things I ever saw visually with regards to aircraft. It did all that cool cinematic camera stuff that combined with the great texture work and particle effects it looked like something from a jet movie. Of course it has the weird Japanese soap opera drama stuff going on but its part of that genre's charm I suppose.

Yeah, the drama somehow fits with this game. Somehow. I don’t think it has the co-op missions AC6 had, but IIRC they were sold as dlc per mission, so not a big loss.
I hope most missions offer air vs ground support roles like AC6. It’s fun to stick with an A-10 and watch how you influence the fight below.
