just imagine hundreds of years ago when man wasn't as predatory to the oceans so much, where thousands of these animals reached that size. Some people have mega balls of steel. Nuff said! they had two dolphins bodyguarding them

Like those two dolphins scared that monster fish... Great whites eat dolphins...and seals...and sea lions..and freakin elephant seals, other sharks, people...pretty much whatever they want when they get that big. That fish was looking either very full or very pregnant, maybe both. I darn sure wouldn't go into the water with it.

Dolphins max out at about 10-11 feet in length, maybe 1000-1100 pounds. they will attack sharks their own size and maybe a bit bigger but they would not be much of a threat to a 20 foot great white.

Orcas are part of the dolphin family.
There was only 16 squadrons of RAF fighters that used 100 octane during the BoB. The Fw190A could not fly with the outer cannon removed. There was no Fw190A-8s flying with the JGs in 1945.

Flipper and his gang ain't gonna mess with that Great White. Have a great white get near dolphin babies and they will. I can't imagine any other reason they'd "throw first punch" though. And don't discount the advantage of numbers - you could probably waste just about any five foot tall woman on the planet, but what if there's 15 of them, and royally ticked off (and I mean like said dolphins - they're all related and they just witnessed you attacking one of their babies)? Odds aren't looking so good for you now! Sharks are also ambush predators. If a great white can pull off the ambush, bye bye dolphin. And I'm sure that happens quite a bit. But lacking a successful ambush the dolphin gets away. And if there's a group of them - hey big huge lions kill hyenas all the time, but it also goes the other way too the minute certain numbers are hit...

Ahem... show me where in any of that where it states that a 10 foot / 1000 lb dolphin will take on a 20 foot / 4000+ lb shark.

I was going to add a similar comment. Even a great white is going to end up on the losing end of that contest.

No there are bottle nose dolphins in the Moray Firth that reach 4m in length, they are the largest known bottle nose dolphins in the world. They are quite aggressive and are known to kill other dolphin/porpoise species that encroach into their territory. there was film of one dolphin attacking a harbour porpoise and flipping it out of the water and into a boat, regularly harbour porpoises are found dead on the beach with tooth marks on them that match bottle nose dolphins, the porpoise has not been eaten just attacked and killed.

Nobody said that sharks were invincible or that dolphins(porpoises) don't attack sharks.
It was stated that those "adventurous" swimmers were being guarded by those two porpoises.
I then said "Like those two dolphins scared that monster fish..."
I stand by my statement.
They would not stand a chance in Hades.

They would not stand a chance in Hades. I agree. Great Whites are not the apex predator. Orcas are. That's the only animal that would take on that shark, and even then it would probably be a couple or more. Orcas kill em just to eat the protein rich livers and leave the rest.
