I have posted a little mod for Historical Gunsights for EAW 1.60 over in the European Air War download section at CombatAce, if anyone is interested. It is only a Beta, at best, from someone with no experience at modding.

I did little, anyway, and just arranged a proper folder structure. The real work was done by people such as PapaRomeo, Peregrine, Spit9, Viper, RedEyes, Lurker_HLB and others.

This mod is set up for use with the JoneSoft Generic Mod Enabler (a freely available download).

I'm interested because I'm putting together a big aircraft upgrade package and I've done quite a bit of work on gunsights and the gunsight sprites.

Can we see a couple of before and after screenshot?

The before is easy, because the gunsight in 1.60 standard seems to be a generic one common to all (I could be mistaken, but I tried a 190D and a Spit XIV and both had the same one).

In the afters I include a 190D, 109E, A6M3, F4F, Spit1a and Spit14. The 'before' is on the left, with the 'afters' in succession in the order I listed.

Ok, thanks. That's pretty much what the new aircraft upgrade is going to look like.

I tried to use historical gunsight sprites to go along with the 3dz gunsight models (Usually the Z.3dz).

Ray, if you don't already have it, there's an excellent GunSightManager, by Spit9, available at Sandbagger's. It displays the sights by nation, plane and year of use. I got Italian gunsights from a file from PapaRomeo, also at Tally Ho. I'm sure they're all available at Mark's site, also.

I recently picked up the gunsight sprites that you are referring to and I've incorporated them into the aircraft inventory. I've assigned them to their proper plane by nation and year.

I'd be happy to instruct anyone to replace the historical ones with a more favored one of their own as I'm not sure the gunsight manager will work with the complex folder system of 1.6.

That's correct, the GSM doesn't work in 1.6. My little mod incorporates the 1.6 folder system, but first requires the nullification of the gsight.spt file within the main folder. I look forward to your new release.
