I am flying RAF Squadron 85. I have invincibility off. Flew a mission and plane was disabled, but able to drift down to about 1000 feet and bailed out. Yet, whereas normally I survive (shakened up) this time it told me I was killed. However, I was then able to fly another mission for the squadron, and then only after that mission, which I survived, I was unable to fly again, being told I needed to activate a new pilot. FYI.

It's possible to be killed bailing out, I daresay that there is some random number generator that calculates your chances of surviving a bailout that was at play here. Also, 1,000ft is too low to be "safely"
bailing out.

We'd need more info , logs of both and outcomes.xml etc (as per last pages of the WOTR FAQ on the support page of the web.

Also there is a setting "pilot never dies" which would explain the dfirst one. Also depends on what message you had in the next mission, could be the war ended (or they moved out of the main Battle area up North for a rest - so the war would end for you at that point.

BTW you can die after the mission, when in the sim you are not dead but very badly wounded. i.e. you die later from wounds after the mission.

Thank you.

I understand about the files, but is it too late to do it as I was surprised that it allowed me to fly another mission, which I did. Let me know please.

To better clarify: I understand that it is possible to die while bailing out, and also after injury. After the mission where I did bail out, I looked at the mission details and it stated that I had "Bailed Out" and that my status was "Killed". Now normally after that, as I know you are well aware, if you try to go to next mission it tells you that you're dead and to enlist a new pilot. This did not happen. I flew 1 more mission, where I chalked 2 more kills (which btw it registered in the pilot log as pending), landed safely (at home field which is what it stated in details), and then it did the "you're dead, enlist new pilot etc".

I have the outcomes setting always at normal, not Pilot never dies.

No the logs are changed each time you fly so no good now of course. OK, never seen that here it's possible your PC somehow locked files so WOTR couldn't write to them when you died the first time.
Other than that I have no idea. That code has been well tested over time so it must be a rare occurance.- ignore it for now and it happens again try the grab the logs immediately after you are meant to be dead wink

Yes, absolutely not a big deal, just figured you'd like to know. I will be more cognizant of grabbing the files next time. Thank you.

I will be watching for this also.
I recently had a very similar case with a German Pilot.

I had this happen again.
I sent an email with logs and screen shots to OBD.
Unfortunately I did not get all the logs.
Will do better next time.

This was a German Pilot flying over England.
Got hit by blast damage, wounded to 54% I think.
Continued flying until ran out of fuel due to damage.
Bailed out over England.

State in the duty room image shows Bailed out and Killed.
But at the bottom all that is said is the pilot was pretty shaken up.
Nothing about being Captured.
Nothing about Spending time in the Hospital.
Exiting the duty room screen I was able to advance to the next mission and fly it.
I did not try to fly a second mission after being dead.
Viewing the pilot show that he is dead there.
Stopping and starting WOTR resulted in the pilot being really dead.

Thanks Stache, next time as soon as you get this message that you bailed but where killed maybe then grab the logs, the outcomes.xml, and pilot dossier.
We need the outcomes.
