I was asked a question about this in a PM so I have investigated

It is a matter of selecting the appropriate theatre and planeset., and because of the career maps I chose an old map exe

I started with SPAW with the original theatre, and a planeset almost identical to the original although the Avenger replaces the Dauntless


The logbook shows two missions, but before I flew the second one I had started a Luftwaffe career.


Setting up the Luftwaffe career:





After flying the first mission I reloaded the SPAW theatre and planeset.
I was able to load my saved career, and fly the second mission, hence the two entries in the SPAW logbook

Then I returned to my ETO career and flew my second mission:

I was not really trying to fight battles, it was a test of the system and it worked. Because of the way 160 is set-up careers are saved, and easily re-loaded for continuation.

Next I will test the Spanish Air War theatre for careers

Run it in your 160 folder

The Dir.Set file to load is "85-Spanish Career"

In addition to installing the theatre and the Dir.Set file the very latest exes are installed in "EAW Versions"
They do not load, need or use the "M.3dz" and "T.3dz" files.
Additionally they have the "Alt-G" toggle switch to tun the gunsight off for screenshots, and then back on again when it is needed.

This set-up should allow all of the default ETO careers



In 1.28c we added an extra target to the default ETO theatre
It was the allied carrier and it has remained in the 1.28-160 system since that time.
Consequently some targets referenced in the 1.2 ETO career files have the wrong numbers.
The suggested theatre is the default 1.2 ETO theatre without the allied carrier, and it is fully compatible with the career files

One thing I was always disappointed at was flying a good mission and shooting down several enemy aircraft and then getting a poor rating for the mission.

However, I would add that many theatres that were released with genuine career options were for earlier versions of the eaw.exe. As installers for many of these versions are still available there is ample opportunity for players to install them and fly their career preferences

One of the great pieces of EAW work is Per 'Von Oben' Rasmusson's Finnish Air War.
He released an updated version with 1024x768 screens for 1.28e and that is available from my site.
It includes a FAW manager, and a very well constructed career set-up
