Any of you had that surgery done? I had it done 10 days ago, and it is still very sore, I can't drink or eat cold or hot, it has to be around 94 to 98 degree, soup or shakes, been taking Ibuprofen 800mg everyday, lost 10lb so far and don't feel like it's getting better, talked to my doctor and he says it's normal, if it is normal, how come all the reviews on Youtube says that it is the best thing since slice bread, no pain, piece of cake, are they getting paid to say that. I search the web for LANAP complication and can't find anything, so it must be just me

I never really had a problem with pain in the past, remember at the age of 20 trying to pull a teeth with vise-grip or working out with injuries but this time I have a hard time dealing with it

I'm willing to give it another week and see if things improve. Tomorrow I can start brushing my teeth, not sure how i'll accomplish that, will see

Just wish I had feedback from people that went through that

Over the last 10 years I've had two molar extractions/implants followed by full metal braces (wife also had full braces for the second time...teens, wear your retainer). I've avoided gum treatment so far (4 x #4 pockets examined every 4 months with cleaning/checkup), but I'm told that I'll probably eventually need gum treatment. I'm trying to put it off as long as possible, staying diligent with my oral hygiene, although wife's gum procedure didn't seem so bad (tissue graphed from the roof of her mouth IIRC, but it wasn't LANAP).

I've never heard of LANAP laser surgery, will be watching this thread.

Twice I had my gums cut up to clean the pockets, I didn't find the procedure that bad, don't even remember taking pain killer after, in fact I still have a bottle of Hydrocodon dating back 2013 that I never used but keep just in case. Those two procedure didn't fix anything, pockets got deeper and deeper, I was a smoker but eventually quit, I have deep pockets , lots of 6 some 9 and 10 one 12 I think, I have very long roots, they don't move at all, of course that could be problematic health wise, was going for cleaning every 3 mounts but there's just so much they can do. At every visit they would bug me about getting that laser treatment done for health reason but it was $8000 and insurance doesn't cover it, Eventually I said ok lets do it, took 4 hours, smelled a lot of smoke from the laser but got to listen some Led Zeppelin. Knowing what I know now, I should have it done a couple teeth at a time

Darn (we can't say dam anymore)? Man that sucks, but at least you don't seem to be overly sensitive during procedures.

I started getting dental work in 2008, my first cleaning (after many many years) was so bad that they had to do upper and lower teeth on different days. My gums were so unhealthy that the deadener was hardly effective. My cleaning was followed by my first root canal (unsuccessful) which wasn't so bad since the tooth was already dead. As time went on things got much better, a cleaning now is almost pleasant (no meds, gas or anything).

I think the worst was constantly having my braces tightened. Probably not so bad for a growing teenager, but in your 40's?...

About deep pockets, or rather, not having figurative deep pockets...

I'm still driving a 2008 Honda Element purchased new around the same time I started my dental work. It wasn't what I wanted nor what I thought I'd still be driving today, but I had to choose between a car or the mouth. I (rather we) chose the mouth, and I stand by that decision. biggrin <- Showing my yellow stained but healthy teeth now.

The worst part like any dental procedure is that they can't guaranteed that this will work or it will last, I really regret having this done, it's in my family genes to have problem with their gums, everyone of them has dentures since their twenties . Every day when I wake up I'm hoping that the pain is over just to have it coming back, have to time my med so I can at least have a good night sleep

Ironic that when I first move here 8 years ago, I had to find a dental clinic that was covered by our insurance, found a nice place with a great staff, had X-rays, dentist comes to tell me the results, not much we can do, too much damage, I was not surprised, he offers me dentures with implant to hold them in place, same price then what it's costing me right now and tells me to think about it. A couple days later my wife tell me that I have to change clinic because her insurance company does not deal with that clinic any longer. So I found another one that was complete opposite to the first one, they wanted to save every tooth that was in my mouth, they made a lot of money fixing me up, for what?
