Hi everyone, So I'm in a group of aviation enthusiast photographers, Full Disc Aviation, and we arranged for an A2A session while we were down in Virginia for the Culpeper Air Fest. Our original lineup was supposed to include a P-51, a T-28 and a Christen Eagle II but these three had to drop out, so we ended up with Scott Francis in his MXS, Chef Pitts in his Pitts, and Lou Feldvary in his T-6 Texan. Our photo ship was a CASA 212. It was certainly more challenging than I expected, but I had an incredible time. Here are some of the shots I was able to get: Chef Pitts DSC_1554 by Christian Gross, on Flickr DSC_1512 by Christian Gross, on Flickr Lou Feldvary DSC_6786 by Christian Gross, on Flickr DSC_6814 by Christian Gross, on Flickr Scott Francis DSC_6841 by Christian Gross, on Flickr DSC_7093 by Christian Gross, on Flickr DSC_6930 by Christian Gross, on Flickr For those that want to see the full gallery, check it out here: https://flic.kr/s/aHsmpzzdfLHere's also a couple of behind the scenes videos from my GoPro: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W1UJsc4dLEMhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w83ytzd4KMMAnd anyone interested, give us a follow www.fulldiscaviation.com Thanks! Thanks guys, it really was an awesome experience. When you're in position and that ramp comes down....wow you are just in sensory overload! I played it safe with the shutter speeds, I really wanted to go lower but I started off high around 1/250 and crept lower to see what I could get prop blur wise and still maintain a sharp shot. I would have loved to get full disk, but I wasn't able to to this time around. One of these days Dave our paths will probably cross, the guys in Full Disc are a great crew and they have some awesome talent! I was hoping to try for Rhode Island next year but with the news they just canceled it there went that one... We had someone take this shot for us at the conclusion of the Culpeper Air Fest, it was a real somber day with the crash and death of Jon Thocker the night before but the show went on in honor of him...I'm the second from the left. ah nice, I also know Richard and I believe the guy in the camo hat. Shot with him at Westover last year.
I already pitched to my wife because there will be no show in New England next year I need to go to Oceana... She's up for it.
