It is an alternative form of anti-aliasing, available on one's nvidia graphics settings control panel, if that's the type of GPU that you use. Other than that, I know very little about it.

Tried the reg fix mentioned above in this thread. Had some odd results. Original B+W "Micropose" screen with airplane circling globe is now psychedelic.

Original de-brief screen is now psychedelic. Menu screens are fine, and movies/hangars/menu screens are OK. Don't see any obvious visual benefit from running in "Glide Mode", so returning to D3D graphics.

Win7 x 64, Nglide installed.
