We are slapping down some money on a Ps4pro 1TB Red Dead Redemption 2 bundle pack tomorrow! Yeeeeehhhaaaaaaaw! It actually begs the question, why is there not and never has been an open world free roam western game for pc? I've looked for years for good western titles and come up empty. Besides the Call of Juarez games, very short and linear but the best available for a pc wild west game and a couple of mods of other games ...there just isn't anything that will scratch the itch. So it's going to cost us 480 bucks just to get a western game, lol. The daughter is desperate for Spiderman as well, least PC has the brilliant Arkham Knight series so holds up well on the superhero front.

Wish me well peeps, walking into an EB and handing over moola for a Playstation is going to hurt a little bit, but the gameplay free roam i have watched over the last week or so has me convinced there is nothing even remotely close for pc in the near future unless Rockstar ports it..and i can't wait a year or more for that! The atmosphere looks awesome, the weather, the different areas, desert, snow, mountains, mud etc. Ai seems well good, the horse riding looks second to none, gunplay, from the Youtubers i have watched, seems better than fair although i imagine these guys are PS vets. All in all the game looks very solid and a 50-60 hour campaign plus endless free roam and upcoming multiplayer, unreal.. Banditry, bank hold ups, shootouts, bounties, hunting, living off the land or at camp, bathing with the local ladies at the saloon, knife fights, bears, wolves, train robberies..wooo man, i can't wait! cowboy

ps, my daughter said we have to share it..

Good times will hopefully erase any pain over the price of entry. Way back in the Super Nintendo console days, I remember once paying about $85 for a single cartridge: Street Fighter 2. Maybe crazy, but many, many hours of fun and memories.

Have fun!

I've often thought about getting a console but one thing always stops me. Gamepads. I just hate them. I want to play RDR2 but that is the only game I want to play. Maybe we'll get it in a couple of years for PC.

Hey the XBOX Console is fun. There are games that don't make it to the PC that I enjoy.
Takes a little getting used to.

To each their own but I concur.

In my case it is simply that many of the games I play will never be on a console.

DCS World and hardcore flight sims in general will never be on a console.

The Total War games will never be on a console.

Hardcore naval sims will never be on a console.

And yes, I hate gamepads too.

I've always been a PC gamer. Games i like the most are only on PC. But because of RDR2 i'am considering getting a console. I'll wait couple of months and if Rockstar doesn't announce it on a PC, i'll buy one.

When it comes to gamepads, i bought xbox one pad for Dark Souls games. After that i also used it playing Mad Max, The Witcher 3 or even American Truck Simulator. For these types of games i find gamepad to be very useful. But i'd never use it for shooters.

Spooky. I just did (almost) the same, also because of Red Dead 2! Ordered an XBox 1X with Red Dead 2 package because it looks freaking awesome (love Fallout 4, love MGSV, love Witcher) and I don't want to be that last kid on the block who isn't playing it.

Got the XBox only because my teen son has a PS4 and won't share, the selfish swine. Kids today, sheesh.

Anyone tried this mouse and keyboard rig for XBox?

I'm seriously tempted, but I like the control I have over my PC Gaming (DRM free etc.) way too much to sign into a closed ecosystem. Hard to resist though.

I love PC gaming, but I'd be lying if I said I don't use my 360 controller on a daily basis when I PC game. Aside from flight sims, FPS and RTS, and most traditional western RPGs, controllers are very useful and give a tangible feel to an otherwise disconnected interface.

I use a PC Xbox controller for certain games such as platformers and third person games. Especially stealth shooters. It depends on the game though. Some are just designed well with a controller especially when there is incremental analog movement involved. To be honest though, if RDR2 comes to PC and if I ever were to get it, I would most likely still play it with a controller. The shooting would be way more precise and ultimately better but when it comes to one of the main aspects of the game, horses, its designed for controllers. Nothing controls something like that with multiple layers of analog motions than a controller and schemed designed just for that.

Enjoy your new system and game Ajay. My original 2014 PS4 is still serving me well and I'm loving RDR 2. Yesterday I had one of the coolest playtimes I've ever had with the game yet with regards to just random dynamic, yet dramatic gameplay. Too many cool things to try to list here in this thread but the game is outstanding. There's nothing that comes close to the horse mechanics than these two games. I recommend that you play the first game if you can too. Its amazing how they crafted this experience and its not hard to see how and why something like this takes the amount of years and money to develop. You have to have that many hands working on such a thing to create such a world with great depth like this. They definitely raised the bar not only from their previous game but for other developers too when it comes to how open world games play.

I hate gamepads EXCEPT for the Xbox 360 controller, which I LOVE. Far as I'm concerned it's the best game controller ever made, and far superior to the Xbox One controller.

From the gameplay (no spoiler free roam) that i have watched..i haven't been this excited for a game for a long long time! I use an Xbox controller for Forza and The Crew on my pc so going to a ps controller should be a snap. I also forgot about another title that is console only that i think looks pretty good, Death Stranding.

We went in today and had to layby the RDR2 bundle, the shops are sold out and have a two week wait on ps4pros lol. The guy said he has never has so many ps4's on backorder, crazy.

How are you finding RDR2? Chewing tobacco irl yet?

Edit- Forgot about Ghost of Tsushima, open world Samurai game set in 1274. Funnily enough it was only a couple of weeks ago i went scouring for a good Samurai type game and guess what, nothing decent available on pc. Anyway, so that's three games that are console only and far better than anything (in that particular theme) that pc can offer me. I never thought i would see the day smile

These are the best PS4 has to offer. May not be your genre of interest but worth it in my opinion....

Horizon Zero Dawn
Spider-Man
God of War
Assasin Creed Origins and Odyssey
The Last Of Us
Uncharted 1 - 4

Bloodborne is why you get a ps4. The Surge is really good too, if you want a nifty sci-fi setting, and it is out on Steam for PC, too.

Yeah,Jingles is a dirty sell-out. After all the stick he gave to the 'console peasants'. But then in his own words he's old and a bit crap biggrin

I wonder how many consoles this game has sold? I guess the same could be said of the PC. How many of us bought expensive video cards etc just to play the latest flight sim?

I'd be interested to see what GTA V sold on console and PC in regards to numbers. Is that something that is out there?
