Over the years, after having to reinstall numerous sims many times due to some minor glitch in a single file, I've learned to make a back-up of the original install. I did this with WOFF UE when I first installed it by simply copying and pasting the entire WOFF folder into my external hard drive for safe keeping, mainly so I would always have a pristine set of the stock files handy in case one of the mods I was working on messed something up. Well today that back-up saved me having to entirely reinstall the sim when I suddenly got an error concerning one of the base .xml files that was crashing the game to a black screen. I took note of the offending file from the error message, copied said file from my back-up, and pasted it into the sim files in my main drive, allowing it to overwrite the corrupted file. Bingo! It all worked again just as it should. I then reinstalled the latest update to my "playing copy" of the sim just to be sure I had the current version of everything.
Easy peasy, lemon squeezy.

That is an aspect I do hate about WoFF. If I do not play WoFF for a couple off weeks, like now, the game stopped and an popup apears after starting the campaign. While BoX, Clod & RoF is still going on. The only thing I did was updating to 4.21 and yep I did remove the mods using the JSGME tool.

I don’t copy the entire setup. I do make a copy of the folder with the exe file and all the other files that usually are the ones that get corrupted.

Nowi, the main reason I back up the entire install is because of my modding projects. I am in the sim editing global layer files and facilities files, etc, etc, and I've been known to make a mistake that will cause the sim to crash.

Sure enough, Monday AM WOFF crashed. Looks like it was related to the missions mod. Since I hadn’t added the last two patches, I figured I’d do a full reinstall. Jinxed!
