Hi Sortofred,
Are you using WEP on takeoff?
Are you getting Gear up quickly?
Are you getting Flaps up quickly if you are using them?

I use I guess the advanced model and they leave me in the dust too... Try doing it under autopilot and see what happens... for some trickier maneuvers, the A.I. just seem to be set to the Acme of Awesomeness and the rest of us have to do the best we can to keep up...

If you turn on the Instructor mode (Ctrl-T) with TAC on, - you will note that it tells you to turn on WEP - I know it does for the British - cannot remember about the Germans.

Did they really use WEP for takeoff? That seems like something that would be figured into the basic design...
Guy 1 "Beautiful plane!" Guy 2 "Yup, yeah she is!" Guy 1 "So, does she have enough normal power to take off?" Guy 2 "...Yeah well, you see... The thing is... Um, I'll be right back..."

I never use WEP myself, it's a Waste of Engine Parts for what you actually get out of it.
It's more that the AI can fly to within margins of error that are not possible for humans than that they use excessively high power settings. If you get too far behind the curve in reacting to what they do then you'll never catch them, the best thing is to use your initiative and find ways to get ahead of them. Cutting corners when you know where they are heading and that kind of thing. If you're thinking ahead then you'll find ways to close the gap.

I never use the boost cut out on take off, no need for it... just cut the corners on the turns if you need to keep up. What I am finding out that is a little annoying, is on start up, all the other aircraft in my flight don't 'spool up' on initial start up, the engine is just 'on' and roaring away. That spoils the immersion straight away, as I would love to hear their engines coughing and spluttering into life first. Wow, I didn't want to say anything, but the AI startup really is annoying and not realistic to me either. It is little things like this that set OBD's sims apart from others. I really hope they will address this. Trooper, I used my boost cut out in my first Campaign mission yesterday and it was awesome. I stayed right with my wing leader and did not have to cut any corners. Staying in formation is a real challenge while keeping my eye out for any EA. I am having a problem with anytime I land, if I stop my parking brake is immediately on. If I try to throttle up to go park shift B doesn't always release my PB. I have my brakes set to my Crosswinds and use shift P on the keyboard for my PB. Is anyone else having this problem? Am I doing something wrong? S! S!Blade<><

Yeah, Some kind of startup sound wouldn't go astray. I can definitely agree with that. Be careful using that WEP though, your engine won't thank you for it and WoTR will punish you for being heavy handed on the throttle with random failures.
