Has anyone here seen any of these sci-fi series? If yes, would you recommend them or no?

Altered Carbon
Black Mirror
Star Trek Discovery
Stranger Things
Lost in Space

Altered Carbon - highly recommended.
Discovery - if you can drop the preconceptions (TREKCANON BROKEN!! CHILDHOOD RAPED!!! WAAAUGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH etc) matures into a #%&*$# good show over the season.
Lost in Space - only seen 3 episodes so far...

Black Mirror and stranger things, maybe when I get time...

I can highly recommend Black Mirror. It has the advantage of not being episodic, each episode is its own self contained story. It does have the distinction of one of the episodes "White Bear" being simply the darkest television I've ever seen.

I saw a show called FlashForward a few years ago. I enjoyed it but at 24 episodes was too long, and it also got cancelled after one season, which sucked.

Star Trek Discovery - watched it with a free week of CBS Access. It's okay. Aside from the non- canon aspects, weird Klingons etc. I just never found any of the story lines to be all that engaging. A lot of CGI, action etc. is supposed to substitute for a good plot I suppose.

Lost in Space - Like it, don't love it. Written in such a way that I was always eager to see the next episode.

I echo the above, Star Trek Discovery, not canon and weird, I'll watch the next series too when it arrives but if it doesn't then I won't be heartbroken.

Altered Carbon is good thoroughly enjoyed it and was a bit sad when it finished, good characters and well played.

Watched a few of Black Mirror, definitely different and thought provoking each episode is it's own story.

Stranger Things, not seen it.

Lost in Space while it does follow the same basic story line as the original series, it is different and expanded up on that story, worth the watch and a very interesting robot smile

Star Trek Discovery is fully canon. Not that Trek has been too consistent in it's "canon" over the years, changing it as is needed.
I've found it to be a great show, the best Trek since DS9, and miles above the TNG movies and TNG itself.

Altered Carbon is awesome. biggrin
I've also enjoyed Lost in Space.

Killjoys is still running, it's enjoyable enough in it's own way.

I really enjoyed Stranger Things (for better or worse, they really do the whole "80s-feel" quite well).

Downloaded Bodyguard to watch while at sea, force 9 gale and 5m waves made for an interesting crossing so not much Netflix watched

Well, if for nothing else, Orphan Black seasons 1 and 2 are worth watching just for the incredible acting of Tatjana Maslany. The basic story is one of a cloning experiment, and she gets to play multiple variants of herself. Not only do you sometimes forget that you're watching the same actress, she even pulls off playing one clone badly acting as another clone, and you really see both characters at the same time. The story itself is that of a techno thriller in the not very distant future, so maybe not THAT science-fiction-y, but more than made up for the acting (not only of her). High production value, good scripts, to me it was the by far best show since (and probably also for) quite a while.
