A nostalgia video

There was only 16 squadrons of RAF fighters that used 100 octane during the BoB.
The Fw190A could not fly with the outer cannon removed.
There was no Fw190A-8s flying with the JGs in 1945.

Ice Cold in Alex or Eating in ...
It used to be run on ordinary roads that were closed for the race, now with the shorter track it is all closed circuit and only open for races and track days.

Watched the start of the video and will watch the rest this evening when I come back from Germany - I will be passing Spa on my way as it happens smile
Eau Rouge is tough, steep, and fast, and that hump at Radillon really upsets the car.

Spa is one of my favorite tracks to race on. Virtually of course.

Same here PM.

What really hit home in the video was the lack of safety for the drivers and spectators.
straw bails, no fencing (spectators right on the edge of the track), drivers in short sleeve shirts, and many others …

old track/new track

Spa was one of my favourite tracks in GPL. The Masta kink took balls of steel to take without lifting and not end up ploughing into a house.

Some of the old track is infamous for more than just racing though, Malmedy was the site of the massacre of 84 US POW's by the 1st SS Panzer Division during the battle of the bulge.

Jackie Stewart had a terrible crash at Spa in 1966

The most significant event in that year was his accident at the Belgian Grand Prix at Spa-Francorchamps, which sparked his campaign to improve safety in F1 and caused him to miss the French Grand Prix at Reims.
