Hi everyone,

First off, let me say that I appreciate ED's statement from Han that let's everyone know that NaturalPoint was completely unaware that there was indeed any such Lock On Gold until very recently. Being a flight-simmer from way back I know how this complicated product launch looks. When I made statements regarding the allegedly invalid product called Lock On Gold I was doing so based on information received from ED.

Please understand that NaturalPoint played no part in this Lock On Gold deal. Our only goal was to bring Lock On: Flaming Cliffs to the USA. As a result, we were able to bring FC to folks outside of the USA as well, which makes this flight-simmer very happy.

With the release of Lock On Gold we will re-evaluate our price for FC and if you would still like purchase FC from us you can.

On a positve note it appears that full 6DOF in future Lock On releases will indeed happen as planned. So stay tuned.

Jason

Why? TFC/ED didn't give approval to any of this until last week AFTER Evolved made the incorrect assumption that they had secured the rights to V1.1 and started advertising as such months ago. Evolved and Ubi Soft cut a deal for the Gold version without TFC/ED being in the loop. It was only after TFC/ED reached an agreement AFTER THE FACT that made this Gold product actually legal.

What should TFC/ED have done differently in this situation?

I don't get why this is such a big deal anyway. Lock-on Gold didn't come as expected but at least there is another way to enjoy Lock-on and FC's. And this coming from a guy who just bought the download version last night!!

Business is business and I certitanly don't see Natural Point or ED as doing anything wrong let alone there being a need for appologies from them.

BTW, Stormin your a good man for getting this involved and explaining what actually happened, Thanks!

They made a pricing error - it should be priced higher than 1.1 as it includes 1.02.

Publishers set prices. They price to the market. Online purchasing through Naturalpoint is not the same market as the shelf at Best Buy.

Frankly, I don't care. I bought mine 30s after they made it available online.

The good thing is that more people will play Lock On.

The price point was set by Evolved who is publishing and distributing this Lock On: Gold product. TFC/ED is the developer. They don't set retail prices in this case.

They are going to have some BIG problems with this product and the general public. Starforce failed to verify FC here, too, and generated report, but nowhere instructed user what to do with it or who to contact. Thank god for this forum.

No problems with SHIII starforce, so not sure what's up. I'm sure I'll get a prompt response, but I pity the poor folks who are going to be totally clueless when Starforce fails to verify and tells them to use a legitimate disc.

After read the statement, I will say ED is a liar. They played NP. EBwrold put Lock On Gold on the list back to April. Evolved Game can distribed Lock On Gold in EB/GameStop, Amazon, BestBuy, Fry, and so on at the same time. This is a one week ago deal? Who can believe it?

foxhsu,

You post very infrequently. Why pop in here and blatantly call someone or some company a liar? Carl has offered plausible reasoning behind seemingly short distribution time, so don't fan the flames (or spark them).

I bought the download version and boxed version of FC do I feel aggreived that there is now a gold version? no! I'm happy to see more potential players, perhaps some new to the genre. If anything ED came along and helped fix a clusterf**k created by Evolved and Ubisoft. I'll take ED's explanation on face value that their version of events is the correct one. Evolved set the price for their product not ED.

Pay attention. Obviously your reading comprehension is only matched by your inability to form a coherent sentence. Before you start calling people liars you should read the multiple messages in several threads that provide all the details.

Joe, this thread should be locked, nothing good will come out from this discussion.

Having purchased FC from Naturalpoint just a few days before the Gold debacle, I'd like to say I'm perfectly happy with the product, the price and the service Naturalpoint provided.

In fact I still think NP are the best suppliers for someone who already owns Lock-On, as their FC CD doesnt need activating.

Cheers,
Keith

I think that NP should be applauded for their efforts in making FC available to the community. Given the initial problems with the reinstall limits, they stepped up with a deal to distribute a CD version.
As for Lock On Gold, I view this as a positive development. Hopefully, it will widen the distribution of FC and will enable ED to continue to support LO and FC with future patches and add-ons.
