Yeah, I was eager to set her down. Back in the day I had Aztech Sound Galaxy Waverider Pro 32 3D which was pretty good Sound Blaster Pro clone with MPU401 General MIDI wavetable chip. I played F-14 using Sound Blaster Pro setting and it still sounded really well. At the time the Fleet Defender came out Roland was being abandoned in favor of Genereal MIDI for MIDI music in games anyway.

I'm hesitant to pre-order anything from DCS due to obvious reasons but the F-14 is tempting... I don't have the F-18 and am waiting for it either to go on sale or get an AG radar... I love Jane's F-18 so much I don't know if I could cope with a Hornet without AG radar... I did buy the Harrier when it went on sale a few months ago, but haven't flown it yet - last week I have been busy having fun with the MiG-29!
I have bought CAP2 though but need to invest more time into flying that - but it looks very promising! Looking fwd to it.
Do you have the F-18 Damson and do you like it?

Yes I do have the Hornet and it's really well done. Some things are still missing as you noted but even so there is plenty to keep you occupied.
In fact here are some missions that I flown, this one is user created:
And this one is from official mini-campaign that was added some time ago:
When the A/G radar will come on-line we will finally see its (mostly) full potential. But who knows how long it will take?
I also have high hopes for CAP2. It really is coming along nicely albeit in slow pace. I recently uploaded a short video from latest build, it really looks nice.
Check out the devblog, A/G weapons and avionics are being finalized and shortly Ed will focus his attention to single missions and finally on the campaign. http://devblog.sim155.com/
