Is there anything other than NCrawler's utility that can play EAW "*.snd" files?

I think you have to take something like GoldWave or another modern Audio editor and import the sounds as RAW and enter the parameters , like sample rate etc manually. Then play them.

I think the extra info in the snd file will be heard as a high pitch sound, the rest should play correctly.

Hello Jel,

Cord's original utilities dumped snd files to raw, and vice versa. These work well with batch files that Col Gibbon created.

I was using NCrawler's version to listen to the speech in your European files. One of your US sets is French, and there is another one that is Italian.
There is a checkbox for instant play, but although the first one selected may play the next one always gives a CTD. I could only listen to them without a CTD by a three step process.
However I have been able to determine which set is which.
The background to this is that I am trying to set up your Swiss theatre for 160 because it is an excellent theatre to play EAW in, with lots of mountains and lakes. I get a bit bored flying over sea with no visible land. Currently I have the US pilots speaking French, the UK ones speaking English, and the Germans speaking German.

I did enjoy creating the Swiss Alps!

The alternative language packs reflect the fact that the enemy may be German or Italian, and that the individual Swiss squadrons were set up to communicate either in German, French or Italian.

The language choice would be made by choosing variant dir.sets.

Nice!

I seem to remember I put railways in the valleys, but that would have been under the old railway system.

Looks very good and as you said, adds some nice variety to EAW.

Hopefully without getting on anyone's nerves, don't forget before issuing this to check the latest Aircraft_Inventory because a lot of the planes in this scenario have improved cockpits and other additions like rounder wheels, better props and such.

I sent a batch up to the GEN yesterday. It's labeled Aircraft_Inventory 10-12-2018 (duh). The x-planes and rarebirds still need some tweaking but the planes for this scenario would mostly be in the DAW and ETO folders.

Otherwise we're going to have to get Jel to make an ice landing patch to go along with the water landing one.

Not that he couldn't do it, we've all seen what he can do, but the poor guy is getting on in years and he needs more naps than he used to.

Speaking of which, I could use one myself right now.

There is a "Switzerland.exe" 7-zip in the 160 Special folder (with the link in my signature)
Run it in the 160 directory.

One thing that may seem odd is that Moggy used the French files for the US speech. This was because the Swiss pilots spoke French. With my regular trips to Switzerland I decided to keep it as such.
What I would like to do is to convert Moggy's skins and make a real Swiss planeset.

The Dir.set file name (which will be installed in the "LongDirSets" folder) is also in French "70-Suisse".

I recommend people using targets and bases in or close to Switzerland rather than far away in the UK.
It uses the "seasons" folder so if you want hard snow set the date to December.

wink Jel
