When 1.28D was introduced the screens were changed from 640x480 to 1024x768, and the old screens cannot be used with 1.28D and all later versions.
However, at some stage I made a version of 1.29 for Moggy, which uses the 640x480 screens.
I will re-visit that version, and start using it with 1.28c installations to check things out.
If successful it could be used to run these unfinished or lost theatres, with all the advantages that 1.29 has smile

Hello Jel,

You made a "128C-2016" exe ("128C-J1 2016" dated 14/5/16), which is what I now use with all the old 128C setups.

You might remember that in the course of that we had fun times making non-exploding paratroopers that actually turned into infantry on landing.

As you say, it takes back a number of those later advances to 128C, but because of slotted planes and 640x480 screens is still compatible to the old scenarios not yet updated to 160.

I am currently testing the 1.29 version and it is working well. It has all of the advantages of 1.29 but with the 640x480 screens smile

Nice work Jel.

I did a lot of work on the 1.5 update of Dom's Attack in the West. Be nice to have it available.

Hello Guys
Currently I'm assembling Aces over Europe to the 128C version of EaW.
This is the 1943 - 1945 campaign by Emil with some changes that I am making. In particular with the help of Von Beerhofen I replaced the A20 Boston with the Lancaster.
I have to test all the planes I insert and make a new mainscreen and a configure game screen.
It will take some time because at the moment I do not have much time to work on it.
Personally I prefer the 640x480 screens because the hangars are animated and this creates good feedback in the game.

bye

Interesting...

P.S. changing slots in 1.2x is very easy. You need a small app called Hex Editor and start 'XVI32.exe' to launch the program. It converts the 3dz files to a hexidecimal (?) form and you just replace the file name ex. Pb24af.3dz to Pbb17af.3dz then save the file. The app does the rest. Then you rename the texture panel the af points to. Pb24tex.tpc/bmp to Pbb17tex.tpc/bmp. You also need to point the correct flight model to the new slot.

There are also apps written by Mr.J for making multi-skin squadrons that create the files for all of the unit's machines. I you download any of my squadrons you can see the structure for making one for 1.2x or, just use units that have already been created. If you use the high rez bmp format (512x512) for skins you need a dummy tpc to each .bmp you use. This dummy is a single color panel of the same name as its' bmp. Pbb17af.bmp needs Pbb17af.tpc. Low rez (256 color files) do not need a dummy, they already contain what you need for the game.

If you have question just PM me.

M

You can actually change slots with a small utility that was originally called MogProg, but was latter called JellySnap. Just put all the planes files in a folder, run MogProg and enter the new slot. Works just as well changing slotted planes to the slotless 160 format.

You can even use MogProg to switch over to the 1.6 naming convention where each plane has the same designation and is ID'd by folder name rather than individual file name.

All you do is edit the Planecodes.txt file that comes with MogProg and replace the "P38H" text with "LANE". You could do it in any slot but the P38H is the first one at the top of the list so it's just the easiest.

MogProg will also rename the TPC and the PCX files along with the 3dz files.

Slowly, guys, I'm not that good.
At the moment I limit myself to reassembling the mod and then possibly modifying some airplane skins.

Anyway thanks smile

I'd like to mention something else.

Those B-24's, as well as most other aircraft, have been upgraded so that the jagged edges on wheels, wing tips, engine nacelles and rudders are much smoother. They still fit the same skins so there really no reason not to use them.

You can find these upgrade models in the 1.6 aircraft_inventory folder. With MogProg it's a simple job converting them back into 1.2X format.
