While I didn’t always agree with Ice, particularly with his constant negativity with regards to the difficulties of sim development, and picking apart people’s opinons sentence by sentence on the topic, I believe that criticism is good to keep delelopers of aware user issues.

It’s ok to differ without having someone else try to jamb their opinions down your throat. Healthy well meaning criticism is good, bashing becomes tiresome is usually ignored.

DCS simulations are complex endeavors, and particularly difficult for small development teams, while everyone loves a polished product not everyone understands the difficulties to make one, AND remain profitable!

One positive thing about Ice, he was helpful to me and others on many issues in DCS, for that he was appreciated!

My understanding is, he was vaporized after being hit by a bolt of lightning from above!

RIP

It seems Ice was in pm discussions with several mods at the time of his departure. Over the years I've gamed online with him and advised a bit when he moved his family to the uk. I can understand why his style could irritate but I'd rather he was still here. Not my playground, though.

He could definitly argue a point and he rarely stepped out of line, but he made VERY good points about how things DCS are currently / direction it is going

He was asset to this place and I think we are diminished without him

all those discussions made for some interesting if somewhat (very) repetitive reading biggrin

to me, the problem is that DCS is not as popular as we all hoped it would be and since their forum was made a no-go zone there is not much that we can do about it.

I don't think the problem is that DCS is not as popular as we all hoped it would be......the problem is that DCS is nowhere near as good as it should be and it doesn't focus on the combat which is a bit disappointing given the acronym of the actual title. What makes it worse is that it has huge potential, and has had since the inception of Blackshark in 2008...the major problem being that the developers simply won't listen, won't learn from their previous mistakes and therefore will never improve.

He was banned. Essentially he was trolling various forums and arguing with mods. Apparently there were a number of warnings.

If I had to guess, the "you're an idiot, but why are you one?" style of questions in PWEC was the final nail in his coffin.

Always sad to see a member go when the community is small though.

However, the real story is that a very innocent comment was argued and refuted by one particular PWEC mod who refused to explain his actions and then took the argument way out of the ball park. Some of the argument can still be seen in the PWEC section. Neither do you have Ice's side of the story.

No need to be two faced....you weren't sad to see him go and gave him a nice wave off just because you didn't like him pointing out his opinions on DCS and Falcon 4. Link: http://SimHQ.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/4431312/re-anyone-seen-ice#Post4431312 It's particularly poor threads that involve people talking about the product in question and someone else getting personal, something that occurs far too often in the DCS section.

Anyway, nothing to be gained by discussing it now so I'll leave you to continue slagging him off just as you did before he left. I guess it's easy to go off tangent when DCS isn't generating much interest.

Alright...this has run it's course.

There is a lot of speculation going on here, the fact is nobody knows what was said via the pm's he sent to the moderators...which was the nail in the coffin.

His comments/activity in the DCS section had nothing to do with his departure.
