When the AI start their engines, the sound is very sudden, there is no 'splutter' as they come to life like there is for the player's aircraft.

It would be nice if you could hear all the aircraft splutter and whine into life.

I'm just shamelssly bumping this because I think it would make such a difference to the feel of things at start of missions; currently it is so jarring and spoils the imersion at takeoff for me.

Maybe it isn't possible to get the startup sound squeezed in before the AI engine noise kicks in, but if it can, that would be just brilliant. I'm a big believer in how sound can add so much to games/sims, just look at the music and the bullet sounds in this one already, if this suggestion could be added then,...

I don't doubt they can do it, it's probably just a bit down the list at the moment...

The older I get, the more I realize I don't need to be Han, Luke or Leia. I'm just happy to be rebel scum...

Yes, I try not to assume that anything is easy when it comes to computers 😉

Anyway, my point/request is made/bumped!

This exact same thing was done by a mod in WOFF, so if you find the correct file and location for WOTR, it should be simple to do for WOTR too.

CPU = i9 11900K
GPU = RTX 3080 Ti
Monitor = ASUS ROG Swift PG32UQX 2160p G-sync

Made this same comment myself awhile back... I hope they can sort this.

I did have a nose around but couldn't figure it out. The startup sound is in the player aircraft sound folder, but AI aircraft don't have sound folders, and I guess the sounds are controlled by something that is either hidden, or beyond my understanding, or both.

Nice to hear that it was modded in WoFF though, that should mean there's no quirk of the game engine that will stop it here.

ChiefWH:
I misunderstood you. There is an AI delayed start mod for WOFF, but it just uses the existing AI sounds for the other aircraft.

As a result, if the whine and sputter is not in those AI start sounds, it will not be in the game, unless someone mods the AI start sound sequence and adds those to the AI sound file.

Yes, I figure the engine startup effect the player aircraft used would need splicing into the sound the player hears as the AI graphically start up, but for that it probably needs the clever people to sort it out.
