Longest for me is my '05 Escape, which I bought used. I can't remember the exact date I bought it, but it's been about 12 years, I think.

Shortest is technically my current Mustang because, while I still own it and don't plan on selling it, I've only had it for a few months. Not sure that counts, though. For shortest total ownership, I'm not sure, I've owned a number of cars and usually keep them for a while. It was probably my '78 Ford Fairmont, which I kind of inherited from my girlfriend. We moved to California together in it, and then added a Fiero, and when we broke up she kept the Fiero and its payments, and I kept the Fairmont, and I think I had it for about four years. It was a rust bucket, and started having all kinds of problems, and I replaced it with a very sporty () Dodge Daytona Turbo.

Shortest was a 1962 Ford Thunderbird that I bought off of e-bay to restore. It was a rare convertible Sports Roadster model and would have been decent if restored but the seller flat out lied in the ad for the car. The thing was so rusty that the rear springs actually fell off the frame and tore into the trunk. It was good for parts.

Longest is my 1965 Ford Fairlane which I bought 17 years ago to be a beater to drive back and forth to work. I planned on just owning it for a couple of years. Cheap, 1500 dollar car that ran well, shifted well and was rust free but looked like crap. I didn't care, it wasn't supposed to look good. Of course I could never bring myself to sell it and over the past 17 years I have completely redone the car. She is probably going to be due for another redo in a few years since I have put close to 100K on her over the years. I mean this has been a long range driver. I drove it from Olympia WA to San Antonio via LA and Route 66, drove her to Colorado Springs from WA and then on to Illinois to then drive the family cross country through the black hills. I've put more miles on this 53 year old car than any other auto I have owned. She was retired from daily driving a few years ago and I probably should sell her.

But I won't.

Longest is a 1988 IROC I bought new the day after Christmas 1987, so going on 31 years and 68,000 miles.
Shortest was a 1974 Impala hand me down I drove my Senior year of High School for 6 months to a year. I trashed the transmission during reverse to forward burnouts. Only way you could spin the tires on a dry surface Car still ran decent but if you floored it the car would just die. Smooth and steady was the only way she would shift gears.
