Arrived last night and posted to Patrol. B flight had 6 a/c ready and I was assigned to E for Evade. an older well used model, but she flys. We ran into some e/a and got to mix it up with the German two engine models. The C.O. said good show as the leader reported knocking down one.
Sqn Scramble over Southend on the Sea. Notified late,. the Snoopers were chased away by a section of Spits. We spotted the Spits returning widely separated so there must have been a fight. Our 10 a/c RTB
Standing Patrol by Harwhich: Ran into 2 109's my wingmates downed both. I can a test to Fat Jack my wing man's kill. the 109 was doing 180's with me as Jack slipped in on his tail and took off his wing tip. The cloud and Muck was so thick that I had to land at Detling I couldnt get in at N orth Weald.
Standing Patrol over Southend on the Sea. No Joy. I had my riggers redo the ammo belts with AP on the inter most guns the 303 Ball with A Tracer every 10th rd. for the rest of the Mg's.
B flight was ordered up on a scramble at around Noon. Pine Tree Control vectored us over Canterbury to a flight of snoopers. Do 17's. I never seemed to get to the right spot so ended up taking long shots Damage ? The Flight claimed 2 e/a for no losses although we had 4 Hurr's damaged.

I had time off after pulling duty Officer so after helping the riggers with my kite . I popped over and got a tram to the Hurr shadow factory where my sister works. A nice work environment.

Ran into some Dorniers, I believe. I went after the loner who broke off from the main flight and caught up with him headed SE at 13,500 feet. The gunners were dynamite and gave as good as they got, a pity only two of the crew made it out... We lost Rowles from A flight, I didn't see what happened but apparently he was hit by one of the other bombers and never bailed out.
The older I get, the more I realize I don't need to be Han, Luke or Leia. I'm just happy to be rebel scum...
