Having an issue with switching windows while game is running. If I go to another window (i.e. browser), the game disappears from being accessible by using ALT+TAB and disappears from the task bar at the bottom of the window. I can still hear the music playing in the background so its still there, but it can no longer be accessed. I have to go into task manager and kill the process, only way to stop it.

Anyone else seeing this? Any tips?

Something is odd on your system if you can't exit the mission, something stealing focus perhaps?
What OS - is it up to date?
What system, GPU? All drivers updated?

Fairly new computer (last couple of months) and pretty decent....no issues with any other game at the moment.

Windows 10 64-bit
Intel I7 3.7 Ghz
32 GB of RAM
GTX 1080I 12 GB Video Card
4TB SSD

Windows is up-to-date as well as all my drivers.....

Very strange, I have a similar system to you Intel CPU at 4.5Ghz NVidia 1080 no issues alt-tabbing Windows 10 Pro 64.

You can try the old tabbing - doesn't work as well though for anyone else .. go to
\WOTR\WOTRScenery\ShadersDX9

open d3d8.ini :
put a semicolon in front of line 2: Save.

i.e. change

to
; UseD3D9Ex=1

try that.

Made the change, but nothing different. What I did notice (before even making this change) is the game is for sure in the background. If I minimize all my other running windows, the game does display on the desktop. However, just does not show in ALT-TAB display, nor on my taskbar at bottom of the screen. Although not ideal, not a game breaker as long as I can get back to it without having to kill the process.

Hi, by "game" do you mean the WOTR menu or the sim when flying?

If you mean the menu program that change won't help, it's only for runtime.

If you alt-tabbed and can't see WOTR menu click on another program (like notepad or another open program that isn't full screen whatever) and it should appear.

Looks like ALT+TAB does work while actually in-game (flying), in my situation I was trying to do it while at a menu. So seems workable..I just have to minimize everything else to get back in if I am at the menu.

Had same issue with WOFF but somehow it stopped.

Now have same issue with WOTR. During flight it keeps popping back to desktop.

Do you use FreeSYnc?

It could well be using that trying to think how I stopped it in WOFF

Scrap freesync. Just happened to me again with it turned off.

Try a reinstall.

I think with WOFF it happened when set to supersampling...again can't remember. However it's happening with WOTR not on supersampling.

RE install didn't help. Using in game AA settings didn't help.

One point I could get back to game but it had sort of frozen, now you could change label settings, tab to target enemy, change view points and circle your plane etc but the actual game had froze ie plane had froze even though you could chnage settings. Was odd.

Until I get this fixed game unplayable

Try disabling the alt+Tabbing as per my post 2 above. Sounds like something is stealing focus somewhere.

OK found it I think. Have to turn FreeSync off in AMD driver settings under DIsplay.
