Haven't had time to post due to being sick and then work, but the American Heritage Museum, which had it's "Soft Opening" for the public on October 6th, will be an amazing facility!
Little in the way of informational placards up yet, but the exhibits were world class.
At the end of a nondescript dirt road in the small town of Hudson, Massachusetts, you suddenly come across this:
Dim lighting made photography difficult but I did my best without a tripod. I was looking forward the most to seeing the Panther from the Jacques Littlefield collection, my eight year old son was excited about seeing one of the few M1 Abrams tanks (an M1A1) on public exhibit.
The Panther faces off with a T-34. The Higgins boat in the background reportedly took part in the D-Day invasion.
Exciting to finally see one of these beasts up close!
My son finds his Grail:
Unexpected bonus- a newly acquired Bf109 G10 painted in Erich Hartmann's colors!
I'll assume this is the only actual Scud missile launcher in the state of Massachusetts:
The T-72 is not a bad looking tank:
An M3 Lee. I always liked this oddball tank with its side-mounted gun and riveted armor that was obsolete the day it rolled off the assembly line:
An M26 Pershing:
The museum will remain open to the public Thursdays through Sundays until November 25th, then will close again until it's Grand Opening in April 2019.
