Just got back from seeing this and I think it is worth every bit of the hype and stellar reviews it has received. I’m still in amazement at the incredible physical shape Tom Cruise is in. He’s 53 but seems more like a 30 year old.

Anyway, I highly recommend this movie.

In addition to his physical shape, his dedication to learning skills relevant to the movie is consistently impressive to me. This time he applied his piloting skills to the helicopter scenes, didn't he?

The issue is not p*ssy. The issue is monkey.

HI
Yep. That was him actually flying the Heli, including the hardcore stuff. Well done movie, and a nice wrap to his relationship to his wife. It didn’t just fade away like most franchises.

I enjoyed it. Definitely impressed he did his own help flying.

Also, did his old wife and new love interest look so much alike I keep having to check who's who

To me they look quite a bit different. Also, Rebecca Ferguson is 7 years younger than Michelle Monaghan.

Saw it with my folks today and we enjoyed it. The movies really did get back on track to being good like the first one was after the second one. Its been a long time but the second one was just a totally different animal that felt more Bond-like than an Ethan Hunt adventure. The HALO scene was beautiful however I wish it lasted longer. I watched the behind the scenes of that shot and its really cool to see all of the planning and logistics they do to pull off visually interesting stunts. The stunt scenes seem to be the unnamed, perennial character in the MI movies. I also love the MI mask deceptions. Where other movies are good at the double and triple cross the Mission Impossible movies are skilled at the quantum cross! There's a great instance of this in Fallout after they catch the anarchist guy and they are underground in Paris.

Not seen it yet, but the scenes filmed in Norway have apparently been set in India? That’s a bit of a shame for the tourism industry here!

In all my years I've never seen the like. It has to be more than a hundred sea miles and he brings us up on his tail. That's seamanship, Mr. Pullings. My God, that's seamanship!

Oh, I had no clue about that. I was totally fooled. When you watch the film though and find out about the plot, you'll realize right away why it was set in Kashmir and not Norway. smile

This is a great flick! Ties all the way back to the first movie.
Am I forgetting something from the last one? Where was Jeremy Renner’s character? I thought he was a great addition in 4, and refreshing seeing Cruise share the spotlight some. His diminished role in 5 was disappointing, but I didn’t think he’d be gone entirely from the team in this one.

Yeah like training with a military specialist to learn how to hold his breath for six minutes underwater in Rogue Nation - way impressive. Although being a scientologist maybe he pulls all this stuff off just because he's NUTS!

She does a great job and I love her complex character. You just don’t ever know about her, even though you want to trust her. LOL
If she becomes a regular member of the team in the next one, since she got cleared of obligations, I hope they find a way to keep her enigmatic.

Thought it was a decent movie but they could have left the whole 'ex just happens to be working here with a really sappy nice guy' on the cutting room floor. Felt like it added nothing to the movie and just dragged it out.

It was intentional, they even funded his ex’s project to set it all up. That was the “guardian angel” bit, or whatever that was. The guy had mentioned it before, then the ex used the same nickname.
Revenge!
It was good to include IMO, they had kind of left all of that hanging before and needed to wrap it up.
Might not be over though, the new hubby might be more than he appears.
