Yes, That hospital in Dallas where President Kennedy, Lee Owsald, and then Jack Ruby all died.
But I just heard yesterday how they honor the Veterans that pass away in the Hospital.
When a Veteran dies at Parkland, the immediately place a gurney in the Main Entrance, and cover it with the flag of the Veteran's Branch of service. Soon after an honor guard of Dallas Police arrive, the Officer will read the Veteran's Name, Branch of Service, Service history, and time of death. They will then fold the flag properly. Then he will call for a moment of silence
I know it is a small thing... but that is awesome.

That is a classy thing for them to do.
My respects and thanks.

So did they do that for Oswald when he died there? He wasn't dishonorably discharged from the Marines.
It is a nice gesture of respect to veterans.

I know there are issues in the US concerning support for living vets, but I do admire the way those that have passed are honoured. Not so over here I'm sorry to say. A rather tattered flag on my father's coffin with n acknowledgement from his wartime Regiment despite him being wounded on active service, and an objection from churchwardens when we placed my wife's father's ceremonial sword next to his casket at his church memorial service. The jobsworth concerned cited a ruling introduced after the Battle of Worcester (1651!!) but the tiny lady vicar told him not to be 'such a pedantic silly bugger' (on consecrated ground too!) and his widow's wish was granted.

Very American...and sadly it would not be appreciated by many "- americans" today. I disagree and don't know why something so meaningful and symbolic has to be agenda'd, politicized and spun. Hmmm and here I was thinking that he was just expressing an opinion, which i believe to be true. But you, be you.

Hmmm and here I was thinking that he was just expressing an opinion, which i believe to be true. But you, be you. Me sharing an opinion about politicizing Veterans or the things done to honor them, spinning narratives against fellow citizens without supporting evidence and making comments like "would not be appreciated by many 'americans'" in the scope of honoring our Veterans deserves to be met with derision..? I believe the position to be patently untrue which is why I voiced my opinion - in my time as a natural born American citizen I simply haven't met another American who would deride Veterans, their service to our country or things done to honor them*. I disagree that it would go unappreciated or offend but hey... You be you, right? Are we sharing opinions and having dialogue or seeking rather insular echo chambers..?

So being "American" is being politicized?? Feigning outrage over how many apparently faux-Americans would lack appreciation for a meaningful, good faith gesture to our service members is politicizing their service to our nation simply to serve your political viewpoints or chosen narrative. Spin my words however you want... You know exactly what you were implying with the "sadly it would not be appreciated by many '- americans'" comment.

in my time as a natural born American citizen I simply haven't met another American who would deride Veterans, their service to our country or things done to honor them* Apparently you just don't get out much then, just within the last week I've seen a wheelchair bound veteran being attacked by a punk protestor. Oh and just because you got yourself banned from PWEC for inflammatory posts doesn't mean you can bring it into the CH.
