I agree that it seems annoying, but nothing can be done about it. No telling the cause, and there some "forgivable" excuses. For example, I had an internet acquaintance to whom I replied, to no avail. Turns out that he was killed in a motorcycle accident--not his fault, either.
Reasonable people are entitled to think that a return visit, with a "Thank You" is in order, but this sometimes does not happen, unfortunately. I understand your perspective on the matter.
While some requests for help are unique, most run in a similar vein. I would suggest that those that are in a position to offer, or be asked for help, construct a "one-click" generic reply that would address the most common issues, along with a link to the EAW Help Site. Doing so would solve most questions simply and easily, and reduce the annoyance that some reasonable people might feel. Not to mention being a time-saver for yourselves.
If the poster returns for further help, then perhaps more specific replies can be made.
