1. What missile, range 2. did the guns bring it down. 3. what g's was the pilot experiencing in the above to bring the aircraft down. 4. after 9\11 do aircraft sit on the tarmac 24 hours a day for such incidents as was handed down in the report after 9\11.
I'm a pilot at Horizon Air. I fly the E175, although I did fly the Q400 at a previous operator. The details of how and why are still emerging so I'm not going to speculate (I'll leave that to you guys! ) It appears to be a ramp/baggage employee, not a mechanic.
Here is a video of the individual doing a roll with a low altitude pull up.
There was only 16 squadrons of RAF fighters that used 100 octane during the BoB. The Fw190A could not fly with the outer cannon removed. There was no Fw190A-8s flying with the JGs in 1945.
According to the RL pilots that I know, take-off in a large, stable aircraft is fairly easy. Even FSX will teach you enough about the cockpit to operate the basics.

Especially if all you want to do is fly like a maniac with suicidal intent. Although I don't know - maybe he DID execute his flying maneuvers well, I'd sure be curious to know...

i just heard the comms, he seemed to know enough like he needed to be 5000 to pull the loop, and he wasnt flying like a maniac for the aircraft he got he pulled some insane well executed stunts for someone who never flew while retaining control, what exactly caused the crash ? he nosedived ? i heard he complain about lightheaded becouse of pressure maybe he fainted ?
another thing, unless you guys feel this will get PWEC then, make another thread there, but since 9/11 security measures and now this wich show there really isnt a security if someone wants to hijack a plane and crash it,(yah f-15 intercepted, but he was in the air already for like 8 minutes),should airport runaways have those poles bumps they have for cars to prevent stuff like this ?
He did a barrel roll and lost so much altitude that he recovered right above the water, probably a 1G maneuver but as he goes over the kids filming it sounds like he has the engines screaming at full pitch; likely why the fuel is burning off so fast and it looks like most of his turns are yank and bank. No, he had some knowledge but no real skill. it's said that he nosed dived into the ground and I haven't seen any eyewitness accounts but it's conceivable he did another one of these turns and snapped it into the island. maybe one of the orbiting F-15 pilots saw it. I don't believe that they shot him down, but they weren't going to let him head back to the city.

So either the plane wasn’t pulled up to the jet bridge, he reversed the props to back away from the jet bridge, or it was parked at the jet bridge and someone drove the pushback for him.

Or it was just sitting on the ramp in a way that he could taxi straight forward.
Complex aircraft aren't that difficult to pilot, if one isn't trying to fly them well. It's not like he was looking to maximize performance, fuel efficiency, etc.
It doesn't take much to learn the fundamentals of starting an aircraft up, if one isn't too keen on the finer points. If all one wants is the engines to run - forget avionics, etc. - it's not that big a deal. Hell, taking off isn't that big a deal given a long runway and two throttles pushed to the stops....empty plane with a lot of thrust = it will climb up as long as the stick isn't forward and do okay so long as the stick isn't all the way back.
Bear in mind he wasn't planning on landing - he just wanted to go out in style - so the niceties of a checklist weren't really relevant.

It's kind of sad to even try and imagine what must have gone trough this guy's mind.
I mean, a lot of suicide methods are fairly quick. But in this case, he knew he wasn't going to land in one piece, even if he tried. He had a lot of time to consider the finality of his actions. Must have been in a really rough place in life.
I don't usually sympathise too much with suicides, depending on medical circumstances etc., but something about this bloke has touched me. He must have been in so much internal turmoil, a great pity he didn't seek help. The message where he says he is broken and has some screws loose is a real cry for help.
"You'll never take me alive" said he, And his ghost may be heard if you pass by that billabong "Who'll come a Waltzing Matilda with me?"
I have to think this wasn't his first cry out for help. He mentions all the people who will be hurt by his act...
Maybe somebody hurt him bad, don't know.
Nuts or not, big Kudos to the guy,! Yep, if he wanted attention he got it. Didn't hurt a soul (physically) besides himself.
Beats the heck out of some whacko killing kids.

I don't know..... something about F-15's and 9-11 makes me think he knew full well the only way he WASN'T going to be shot down (which could possibly NOT be an instant death) was to pull this stunt in the most non threatening manner possible.
If I had to choose between a nosedive to the ground or a missile hit I'd take the ground......
