I'm not sure if this has made the rounds here but I thought it was well done so figured I'd point it out just in case. In case I can't change the original thread title at this point he'd be well over 83 since the video has been around for a while.

Yup several times. You sure about the age of the pilot?

There was only 16 squadrons of RAF fighters that used 100 octane during the BoB.
The Fw190A could not fly with the outer cannon removed.
There was no Fw190A-8s flying with the JGs in 1945.

Yeah,83 can't be right. I have a friend who joined the RAF in '44 (navigator). He's 92.

It's a great story though yep

It's crazy to think that someone who was 18 years old in 1945 and thus just barely old enough to have fought in the war would now be 91.

Actually,I think the post title is in fact correct. The video was made in 2007 so he would have been 83 then. Sorry Scott.

Nothing to be sorry about, I'd rather not spread misinformation. I had the video forwarded in an email which went to full screen automatically so I couldn't see the post date but I still should have realized things were off.

I don’t know what would be better, seeing the footage of yourself 60 years ago or showing it. That was probably the biggest surprise Mr. Blyth had in a long time!

I had never seen this before, thanks for posting.

It never fails to impress me, the humility & bravery and most of all sense of duty that a WW2 pilot/sailor/soldier has. Not to say that service men and women from later conflicts don't hold the same values, but there was definitely something special.there.
