I've used dgVoodoo2 , but you need atleast a DirectX 11 video card (I think its 11). cause it upconverts to it. (all other wrappers seem to upconvert yo 9).
Anyhow It suppose to take care of DirectX and Glide modes both, but I can only get the Glide mode side of it to work.

It comes with instense readmes so maybe a Win7 user can get both sides to work properly.

As for advantage, I haven't tested it out fully so I'm un sure. but it works nicely. (like if More of the video control panel settings work or not)

I wrote a bit about it on my site. under Troubleshoot Help Document.

Yeah, I wasn't sure.

It has its own settings to improve the look of EAW, plus the video control panel settings should work also now that it uses DX11. but again, I have not tested them out yet.
Been too busy with Real Life.

The directx portion of it, I tried getting to work, but I could not get the watermark to display on the menu screens, so I assume it wasn't working
. (Its tricky to get the improved DirectX portion to work on win10 I followed directions and attempted a few things but the built in dx won over the wrappers dlls, if im making sense)

I'll keep it in mind though for future testing.

I'm running windows 7 64 and been too busy trying to figure out the port forwarding on a new router...My last was modem/router all in one..the replaced it with a separate modem/router,,and the port forwarding setup dosen't make sense to me..and calling Spectrum tech support is useless even when you get someone who speaks English..I had it set in the old gear but need to figure out this junk..

Heres a good wrapper (based on the description only)
WINE3D For WINDOWS

http://fdossena.com/?p=wined3d/index.frag

Looks like it will allow those advanced dx functions/enhancements for win10 also. (its for all window NT versions.)

EDIT:
Nevermind. You would need to do hex editing of the eaw.exe and possiable d3d.dll for games that are less than DX7....man.

Last edited by MarkEAW; 08/02/18 06:13 AM. Reason: limited use for EAW, hexediting needed

I'm no help with port forwarding what ever it is. I don't understand that stuff too well. Its clearly going to be different per hardware you have (The modem and router, or modem/router)
Good luck man.

thanks Mark...forwarding just opens the ports needed to fly EAW on line..figured out If I can't get it working I can just unplug the ethernet cable from the router and stick it in the modem and switch it back after
