Some of you may remember the
VFA-41 Black Aces from over 10 years in operation in Jane's F/A-18. Eventually Jane's was no longer a viable sim to continue to support carrier-based operations. The squadron tried to hold on until a more suitable sim came along, but, alas, none arrived in time, and
VFA-41 closed its doors.
Then DCS World finally released the F/A-18C and carrier ops. Several of the legacy
Black Aces from the Jane's days regrouped and re-established
VFA-41 as a DCS squadron, officially recommissioned on July 4th.
Following requalification in the new (old) airframe, the
Black Aces flew their first squadron mission, all sortied aircraft recovering safely on the carrier.
Mission details can be viewed
HERE.
There are a few slots that remain open on the
VFA-41 pilot roster. If you are a DCS pilot but only interested in carrier ops, check out the new (old)
Black Aces.
