It's true, there is probably a better link. I found out through Facebook when the RIP messages started, just terrible http://airshowstuff.com/v4/tag/world-heritage-air-museum/ [edit] I have to say after watching the tribute video that the Venom uses an awful lot of runway

I was befriended by Marty because of the crash that ultimately killed Amanda Franklin, through posts on Facebook. I never actually met him personally, but he had been posting lately about getting checked out in the Venom and the Meteor for the past few weeks. This after following it's journey all the way here from overseas where it was to be displayed at Oshkosh, basically the big Debut in the US. I feel rather stunned about hearing this though I have seen over the course of a few short years many of these pilots interconnected by Facebook all to often "Go West". The community of Airshow Acts and Display Pilots are a Big Family and all know someone who has met tragic ends, I don't know how they handle it. He has a wife, a bunch of beautiful kids. It's really sad.

The Bluebonnet Belle went down today as well. It was taking off from Burnett airport with people headed to Oshkosh. I've talked to a couple of the pilots that flew the plane and was given a tour of it a couple of years ago. Hopefully all will survive, though one apparently has major burn injuries.

Dart there is video of the incident, it is hard to say what happened but obviously something was wrong right from the start because he seemed to have a problem keeping it on the runway. It is very fortunate everyone got out. As for the Venom I would have to think loss of power but since a fire consumed the crash in both cases there may be very little evidence to recover and make a determination as to the cause. It won't bring much comfort anyway.

Found Marty Tibbetts on Facebook, we were not friends on that social network but we did have 2 mutual friends. It is obvious from the pictures he posted that his family was very important to him, they are in my prayers as they deal with this loss.

I can recall many times he's posted pics of his family and that's what really makes my heart ache for the tragedy that has come in their lives. And really it's getting hard to have that glimpse into the lives of these acrobatic daredevils, to see them as regular people you can relate to and see all of their photos and videos. I wouldn't know if it weren't for that monster that is social media. Still something he said on FB last week keeps me wondering, when asked if they were taking it to Oskosh, he said he was hoping to, but they were chasing down some small squawks. Makes me think ..what might he have been referring to?
