This Site claims to independently review all sorts of computer-related stuff. Link is to graphics card section: https://www.videocardbenchmark.net/gpu_value.html

Might be worth a look if one is considering upgrading. I used this site's recommendations when making my latest upgrade, and the new card is definitely superior to the old one. YMMV.

One of the constraints under which I labor is a relatively older "gaming computer", which requires "Small Form Factor" everything, AND the OEM power supply is not only of low power capacity, but also non-upgradeable. So, my possible universe of graphics cards is perforce quite limited at the moment. I am planning a legit, "gaming computer", to be built in a couple of years, and my limits will be few.

Disclaimer: I have no connection to the site linked.

Submitted for your consideration.

At this point high powered video cards are almost useless with EAW.
I'm not sure how low you can go for a video card But AGP cards for winxp or even early PCI-E for WinXP are probably all you need to get full speed and performance of most modded versions of EAW.

Ive gone from win10 gtx560sc to a gtx960 with not performance change in EAW, atleast noticable.
So thats a DirectX11 card to Directx12 card. More video memory didnt change anything either.
There maybe some video control panel settings that are new for the 960 but i yet to experiment on there effect to EAW.

I agree Mark I started with an onboard chip and 3 cards later a GTX 1050 and the frame rates always hovered between 55-60 FPS,,Although it sure helps with Il-2..Only changed I made to video card settings was 4 X AA does make the models cleaner

I will take as gospel that beyond a certain point, higher-level cards seem to make no difference when playing EAW. That said, those using older cards in their legacy computers which were retained to play legacy games, like EAW and others, might find it to their advantage to upgrade their video cards above what they currently have. Perhaps the site mentioned might prove useful in that regard.

Many of us play other games besides EAW, and have found that newer cards are a considerable benefit, sometimes in unexpected instances.

For example, there are a great many games wherein having a more modern card is a benefit, and perhaps a requirement. Besides that, a considerable number of older games have benefitted from user-made mods and patches, just as EAW has benefitted from same, which add-ons also benefit from more capable video cards, regardless of what was formerly adequate for the original, un-modded game.

So, it is all a question of the needs and budget of the user. Hopefully, the site linked will provide useful info for those considering a graphics card update.
