I would like to know what is the cause of this hilarious behaviour of the trees. All mods disabled, head shake disabled (thanks RW for sending), using triangle mod1.5 , all have no effect. Still can not determine what is the cause of this Harry Potter trees, guess it must be something in my adjustments.
I have included a link to see the effect on a small video, because this forum still can not upload videos and I do not have any account from Google/Facebook.
It's a simple fix, but it will cost you (there is no free lunch in life).
If you have a NVidia card, go to your Manage 3D Settings: Antialiasing - Transparency and change your setting to "?x (supersample)"
The supersample that works best is the one that same one that matches your AA settings in the game (be it from the Workshop setting or your NVidia Control Panel). Example AA=2 then SS=2; AA=4 then SS=4; AA=8 then SS=8
The results look great, but it will cost you in FPS during the game (like I said, no free lunch).

Than this could become a joke, because it is all set to max Super Sampling in the nVidia settings. :-) I have also noticed that this tree blinking is much more noticeable when there are no leaves on the tree.

Actually, you need to use Sparse Grid Super Sampling SGSS available through Nvidia Inspector to reduce shimmering, not just the standard Super Sampling available through the NvCP.
Ok before going to fly into the mist below are my settings.
I do not use Vsync because I'm running windowed to reduce tearing (btw non-windowed and game Vsync on does give the same shimmer), my monitor is an 60Hz 27" 2560x1440 and the game FPS is capping by the afterburner tool at 58FPS. No freesync/Gsync. Nvidiadriver 388.13 I see in Roberts screenshots, he does use the WoFF while I use the CFS3.exe in the nVidia game profile? This tree shimmering only is active when I start the engine and is stopping when the engine is shutdown complete.
edit: I have played the settings Robert is using, also game settings set on WoFF.exe but still the same, it does have no effect. Robert thanks again for sending the screenshots, only I do miss for both, the sections below sceenshots.
dutch: Your AA settings do not match your SS setting.
You need to try "Application setting" on your nVidia Control Panel AA, not "Enhanced", then your 8x AA Workshop setting will match your nVidia Control Panel AA Transparency SS setting.

Thanks for this thread it really makes interesting reading. 1 quick question it that's ok because it doesn't seem so clear cut..I was under the impression that it's the CFS3.exe that needs the settings to be set too? Or is it the WOFF.exe that needs to be used? Thanks all
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old: Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning We will remember them.
I found it made no difference if it is the NVidia or the Workshop that is set the same as the AA Transparency, just the AA and SS must be the same.
On a different note, if you check, you will find that the Workshop AA is slightly more efficient than the NVidia Control Panel AA because the Workshop setting is part of the CFS3.exe so it is one less piece of software that has to be processed if you use that AA setting versus the NVidia Control Panel AAA setting.

Thanks but what to set right in the Nvidia settings the CFS3.exe or the WoFF.exe? As Robert does use the WoFF.exe, while I stil remember you have to use CFS3.exe. Or set them both, just incase.

You can set it to "WOFF,exe". The CFS3 is not necessary unless you need a profile set up for running CFS3 by itself.

First attempt became a failure, after starting the engine the plane went into the swamp. But nice thing is to see while I did set the WoFF.exe to Vsync off, I did adjust the Vsync in the CFS3.exe to adaptive (half refresh rate) so here the FPS will be capped to 30FPS, as you can see it did. If exchanging this: CFS3.exe Vsync off and WoFF.exe to adaptive (half refresh rate) then the game pulls out to 60FPS. Conclusion in my case it is the CFS3.exe that needs to be adjusted for this game and not Woff.exe. Testing should be done on your own situation, because that can be different. Still have any doubt then adjust in the nVidia program settings WoFF.exe the same as the CFS3.exe. I admit the last suggestion I will do to be sure.

I understood your subsequent post when you said that it's slightly better to set AA in the WOFF workshop and have NVidia set to "application controlled". But I'm confused by your statement that dutch's AA settings did not match his SS setting. They're both at 8.

As I started my question guess it must be something in my adjustments and that was indeed the cause of the shimmering: wrong adjustment, that became now more visible when I did enter the autumn in my campaign [trees losing the leaves].
Members all a big thank for helping. Meanwhile I will talk to the royal engineers, about the swap terrain.
@Hoogadoonga, They should not be set to Enhanced nor on Override, but always application-controlled.
Hi Dutch and all those who may be interested in the following:
I have been testing the blue triangle mods (High and Medium versions) trying to tune things up and I discovered that if I changed my NVidia settings to the following, I got significant improvements on my 980ti card. You might want to try these settings to see if you get better performance.
In my Nvidia 3D Global Settings panel I set the following:
Antialiasing Mode to "Application Controlled" Antialiasing Setting to "Application Controlled" Antialiasing Transparency to "Off"
In the WOFF Workshop I set AA to 4x
Things are running darn good at the moment with only slight stutters when terrain loads and very slight micro stutters when panning. I have flown three missions (not complete missions but long enough to reasonably test). I used the high end mod and the medium. The medium is marginally smoother.

Robert: I have been using these setting for years because of all the articles I have read on how to make games run more efficiently. The only difference is I use 8X AA in the WOFF Workshop and Multisampling for the AA Transparency.
hoongadoonga: All the articles I have read over the years say that any "in game" AA or AF is going to be more efficient than the outside 3D game settings in a control panel because the developers already designed these items to be the most efficient that they can make them inside their particular game (like CFS3). This is why I use the in game AA settings since they are more efficient than the NVidia 3D Control Panel AA.
