Like the title says...it's been a long time since I've been here and great to see the sim is still alive and well!

I have long since lost my original disc and would like to get back into the old girl (pardon the expression) as was wondering if there is place where I can download the latest version that would run on Windows 10 64 bit?

Thanks much and good hunting!
Ogs.

This version works on my Win 10 x 64 laptop: https://sway.com/SAzJEaMd8W7XrD0w?ref=Link

There are further augmentations to it, but I suggest getting the Foundation version up and running, and then adding to it, if desired.

There are certainly other very nice versions of the game, most much improved from the original. A frequent/long-time poster here, VonBeerhofen, has his own iteration, and it is very impressive, as well. This is a link to VBH's Site: http://www.europeanairwar.net/

If you should need any additional help with any version of the game, MarkEAW's "EAW Help Site" is invaluable. I believe it's linked within the link provided above.

MrJelly is the person offering the game in the link above, so questions about it ought to be addressed to him, either via IM, or posting in this forum. Likewise vBH.

Good Luck! I'm sure you have a treat in store for you, no matter which version of the game on which you ultimately settle.

Greetings Ogs smile

Try the test version from the 160 Foundation webpage using the link RIBob posted, or the one in my signature.
No previous installation is needed.
There is an ini file in it, which you can either edit or replace with one of your old ones.

You will even have a Mossie to fly smile

It is the 160 equivalent of the full 1.2 installation, so it will give you an idea how well it works on your PC.

If it is OK then you can get the expansion packs smile

wink Jel

Thanks Russ, and happy to note that you are not locked into using one particular version of EAW, and nor should anyone be smile

All, I just downloaded 160 Foundation but when I run the .exe I get the dreaded 7217 error. Is there something else i need to do first?

Cheers!
Ogs

I occasionally get it in W10 since that last update

Get the eaw properties and set the compatibility to Win7 or maybe earlier.

Glad to see you again Ogdens, hope everything is well.
I can not really fly EAW with he setup I have, but I still enjoy it on an older computer.

Welcome back Ogdens. I too am just getting EAW squared away on my new Win10 machine.

I just have other time requiring things going on and haven’t made a real effort. Ver 1.2 basic is running. But I hope to get one of our resident experts slow walk me through additions and improvements.

Hi Oldgrognard,

You could start with EAWPRO, an upgrade which is designed like the old fashioned theatre addons. Install is simple if you have v1.2 running, just extract the .ZIP into your EAW main root folder ( where the EAW.EXE resides) and allow overwrites. It's adviced to keep your 1.2 working version backed up, just in case. You can find the download here:

https://rabartel.home.xs4all.nl

A nearly complete description can be read at Mark EAW's Helpsite:

https://rabartel.home.xs4all.nl

The addon works in both Glide and D3D mode, if you encounter any issues let me know and I'll do my best to help you.

An alternative is to go Ogden's route with v1.60. Mr. Jelly can tell you all about that one.
