The Lewis used a pan magazine holding 47 for earlier versions of the drum, found on the earlier craft, or later drums had 97 rounds. As we do not have a reload mechanism you get to fire all 194 in this case.
For pilots back then, they would get to empty the first drum have to break off fly level then pull down the gun whilst avoiding combat, and reload...
If you like watch your rounds (F6) and when you fire around 97 (or 47 for earlier craft) stop and go find somewhere quiet to imagine the "reload".
