Hi Raafspitty, Man, you've been cranking out some nice stuff like crazy. Are those cylinders the carbon pile voltage regulators behind the spit/mustangs? I can see why they placed them in an easy access area, as they always failed to maintain the proper resistance for charge.
I think your Shapeways store is pretty amazing. Is it making profit? I wonder if you could visit airshows and display some of your stuff (with a sim of some sort). One of the guys is having good success with that over in Europe. You have been rather generous with us with references and all that, but hope some of that is coming back.
Hey the voltage regulators were standard on the P40 and I think the P51 will check..I started these designs a few years ago as I knew even then parts would get rarer and rarer, thus more expensive..Profit wise,no not much in regard to a steady income.Has been a quiet 6 months sales wise.I picked Shapeways as they were doing top quality prints.I have been running my own Desktop printer for about a year now mostly for prototyping and I think I can produce finished parts for a cheaper price..Time is my enemy at moment as research, design and manufacturing takes time and that takes me away from bigger jobs I have in the workshop..I need clone myself..
Hi Raafspitty, I have bought many of your items from the Shapeways site, and they are amazing. They are going towards my longterm (never to be finished) project of a fullscale Spitfire.
Your fuselage frames look like they will be fantastic once completed. will they be available as an entire frame, or as a kit? cheers
Hi,I can do both.once i have the tooling formers done i can produce either frames complete or as a kit for assembly itself. It all comes down to cost. Most of the cost is in labour especially with assembly of complex frames such as the cockpit frames. There is plenty of support from guys who have built Spitfires who can help with feedback and tips and tricks on assembly..Ive been helping Darryl H with his MkI cockpit overhaul which will be fantastic when done. You can find updates on Facebook here.. https://www.facebook.com/SpitfireK9817/ and here https://www.facebook.com/groups/970117549809066/
Wow looks amazing!. and have now joined those FB pages, thanks for the link.
quick question , you have several Spitfire throttle items on the shapeways page, and an entire throttle assembly, but I cant see a throttle lever for sale individually to go with the two white throttle top handles?
