Hi gents! Hope you are all doing well.

I randomly stumbled across this upload from Pol and happened to notice the date: June 13, 2008.

Here is where we were a decade ago, with a preview of OFF: Between Heaven and Hell. My how far we've come. How has it been ten years already?

Take a look for yourselves and enjoy the nostalgia!

It has been a wild ride. Tender age of 22 when I scored it, think we've aged about 30 years since! winkngrin

Yep. The sim has certainly come a long way and its *possible* it could still go further with things like the potential for a DX11 engine being installed someday in the future. In the meantime, things still look and fly so much smoother - which is more than I can say for my actual flying skills in this video.

Pol may look bad by today's standard, but where would we be now without it and all that came before it. Been here for a long time and grateful for everything OBD HAS DONE

Ah the Bristol Scout, it was made by NOD but we couldn't really use it as it was never used at the front. Also it would need a lot of work/time o bring it into UE standard now even if we have it in QC only whatever.

True Mr_Dirt thanks

With all respect to OBD, but in jan/febr. 2009 when I did buy OFF3, I think it was overpriced for what you did get. Because also in 2009 the OFF3 looks were outdated.

I remember being in awe of these images back then! I put so many hours in on OFF that I'm glad there's no stat counter - I'd be horrified if I really knew how many thousands of hours vanished into that title. I only wish I had that kind of time now for WOFF:UE. I still feel like a newbie even though I've had the game for a long while now.

I for one am glad you guys have been with us this long - even the "terrible" looking versions were a blast, Pol. I wish I could show you and the team just how much enjoyment we've derived from your tireless work.

Cheers mate!

It's all relative when considering how 'terrible' these were in the past, right? I still remember the original Red Baron. I knew then it wasn't great but it was very fun because there wasn't anything else! I am certainly not being disrespectful to Pol and I really, really, really appreciate you computer gurus hanging with this for so long! S!

music rates 2005 (these were the musicians guild rates):
electronic music $300/minute
orchestra $800/minute
with choir $1200/minute

Off 3 incl phase 2: 10-15 minutes @1200/minute $20,000
Off 4: 138 minutes @ 1200/minute $165,600
WotR: 72 minutes (at present) @ 2400/minute (2018 prices) $172,800

Do you think you've even paid a representative price for that? never mind the graphics, programming and sheer effort of everyone else?
I don't mean to sound snotty, i'm just sayin'

It's a leading product in a highly competitive market, and was therefore offered at a competitive and fair price.

Thank you, Matt. People often have no idea what the pricing pressures are for a gaming studio are these days. The days of programming a hit Atrari 2600 cartridge game in your bedroom over the weekend are long gone.

dizzy

Wow Mat, those are some insane numbers! I've always felt that OBD was putting their software out at a good price - I think one of the issues the gaming industry faces today is that the market accepts a $60 price tag as the norm, when in reality it's anything but. Hence the world of DLC, microtransactions, etc. For me, I'll happily pay a higher price for a full featured sim rather than sink $15 and $20 chunks for added content that's essentially required to fill out the game.

As an aside - your soundtrack to all of the OFF versions has been beyond superb. I wrote quite a lot of my dissertation with your score as my soundtrack!

Here's a video pairing some of Matt's original, incredibly immersive, BH&H soundtrack music to a WOFF UE campaign experience. Man I love this sim.

. I was only talking about the bad looks and not the music and yeah I just give my opinion that this was not that well made, not about the music. BTW,

To be clear, before I get the complete community on my tail; I’m only talking about OFF3, sorry to say and not WoFFUE because this game is every euro worth, so much have been changed in a huge positive pov. Think that was also the topic about.
I do hope hope I can still join this forum without being bashed away. :-)

Dutch your opinions are always welcome. This forum generally has an open mind. We may not always agree with each other but we are a tolerant bunch...to a point!
Rightly so, we don't appreciate rants that disrespect others.

We always look forward to CONSTRUCTIVE criticism as it generally results in improvements

I for one, feel that on a positive note, your comments resulted in Matt laying some knowledge on us about music costs and that was enlightening.

Cheers mate
