I was looking at some discographies for some famous bands and I was really surprised how many old “legacy” bands are still putting out new music.
A few examples:
Chicago
most recent album: 2014
Earth, Wind & Fire
Most recent album: 2014
ZZ Top
Most recent album: 2012
ELO
Most recent album: 2015
Styx
Most recent album: 2017

Deep Purple - Infinite (2017) Oh wow, that's a shocker for me. I wonder how many of the original members are still in the band?

I kind of feel bad about not giving new music from favorite old bands a chance, which I did do for Kansas since they were playing some new stuff at a recent concert, and I actually enjoyed it. But to be honest, I haven't listened to it since (the new stuff, I'm still discovering old Kansas I enjoy).
My personality is that I normally don't tire of things I really like, including music. I've collected so many CDs over decades (same with movies, although not all of my VHS tapes have been replaced with DVD/BR yet [take good care of your stuff and it might last you a lifetime, whether you want it to or not]).
It's just that I have so much to listen to already, I'm oversaturated and don't need new music, even from old bands.

I’ve heard that The Kinks are getting back together to make a new album.

I kind of feel bad about not giving new music from favorite old bands a chance, . You are not alone! I have the same situation with many of the legacy/classic bands that I love. I don't have any albums from Rush post 2000. I never bothered with anything from Styx after "Mr Roboto". "Tango in the Night" is the most recent album I have from Fleetwood Mac and that came out 31 years ago!
