Just wondering if any of you have tried this game. I am a fan of the Jurassic Park franchise, so I am curious about this game. I have to admit, the voice of Jeff Goldblum in the game actually is an attraction - his portrayal of Ian Malcolm was pretty cool. smile Anyway, any opinions? Thanks in advance. smile

Looks pretty fun and especially so if you're a Jurassic Park fan. I loved the first movie but never cared for all the others. Haven't seen the latest "world" ones either. I never played Operation Genesis which I've heard is good but there seem to be some similarities. Seems to have a good vibe to it. I think I'd enjoy it but I think I'll wait for a sale later on. I do like the apparent close up or first person view when driving a vehicle or tranquilizing from a helicopter unless I misunderstand that aspect.

My only experience with Jurassic Park games was that horrible "Trespasser" title from around 1997. That's the one where your character had 10 foot long arms and a DD bust size.

That's pretty much where I'm coming from. I will be keeping an eye out for more commentary. Like you, I loved the first movie so I want to reserve judgment before committing any further. Thanks for the input. smile

I'm a fan of another Frontier game, Elite Dangerous. But from the reviews I've read I'm giving this one a miss. Poor mechanics, limited control, little to do, monotonous and tedious are what I've gathered from reviews. Too bad, because I had been looking forward to it. Interested to hear what someone here thinks if they do get it.

Here is one of those reviews

I've watched some gameplay of it and it's really hard not to cough up the bucks to go ahead and get it. I'm not much for the city/theme park builder games, but this one looks casual enough to be fun and certainly a lot of eye candy and a fun subject.
$55 is just kind of steep.

Ign gave it a 4/10 because its not balanced very well for a management game.

I have the Xbox version and am enjoying it. Put about 3 hours in and I'm impressed at the graphics and it's keeping me busy doing missions and upgrading the park.

I'd give it a solid 7.5 / 10 but I must admit I'm not normally a fan of management games.

i've heard good and bad, the die hard management players are saying its utter rubbish and not hard enough, more casual players are saying its not to bad. Guess it depends what your looking for?

I think so, Meat.

There seems to be a decent divide between that 4/10 review, and quite a few player comments on enjoying the game. I've played a bit of "Planet Coaster" which was Frontier's previous "park management" game, and the management aspects are on the lighter side there, too. I mean if I let the coaster park go to pieces on managment, it was going to have problems, sure. But from my play time, it didn't feel like early SimCity games where management shortfalls meant game over.

On Planet Coaster, I was more happy to play with the building the rides and stuff, than sim management, so I had a good time in my plays.

I really liked Trespasser! That's a game I have always wanted to see get a sequel or rebooted by someone. I think its one of the first computer games I ever saw and experienced physics in. It was not perfect but it was attempting to do some very cool and uncommon things. The arm manipulations was frustratingly hard at times but I thought it was cool. I loved stacking up cans and then picking up a shotgun and doing target practice. I never beat it but I loved what I played of it. It was just so cool to have this game where you could run into a building and try to survive a dinosaur attack just like the movie. I also loved the John Hammond voice over as you approached the unknown, mysterious lab. I also liked the character voice narration that you would hear and I think it was done by Mini Driver. It was kind of funny to be able to look down at your boobs and heart tattoo.

I too liked Trespasser. Here I was thinking I was the only one biggrin

I remember I got stuck in one area, couldn't get the keycard needed to move trough a door. So I ended up stacking crates and jumping over the fence, which most definitly wasn't the idea how it should be done.

My lad grabbed it Letterboy, even at the 70 dollar Australian pricetag! He wanted a nostalgia ride ala Jurassic Park Operation Genesis which he loved as a kid. The game looks good but we both agreed it fell short in actual gameplay. He got the steam refund at one and a half hours smile

Check out a video series on it on youtube. Plenty to watch and you can see for yourself if it looks interesting.
I still haven't pulled the trigger, but I'm cheap. LOL

i was going to wait but i did to suport the dev, frontier does great suport for their games and keep releasing content, like the witcher dev, plust they did this game in one year and half, and less 2 months if you take into account they have to have a presentable demo for e3 wich takes a lot of dev times to crunch bugs that would make the product look bad.....
my biggest problem right now is lack of buildable areas, i understand they wanted to keep a geology of the place so we dont have a zero island like genesis had, but there are a lot of spots that could be usable, and with more dinossaurs coming they must be real state ! another peeve is buildable areas that refuse to place objects becouse of minor terrain imperfection you can't fix, and how dinossaurs can destroy concrete fences with.their heads....i hope they change that, being that its one of the biggest complaints i guess it will be a priority as fences are not much different other then aestetics. E3 is over so now its time to go back to work.
Has lots of potential for addons.

Have you played the sandbox mode?
Apparently once you get the first island to 4 stars, you get access to the island from the first movie and unlimited funds. I think you still have to unlock things through the campaign.

i'm 0.3 points from unlocking it, but from what i hear you still use money, its not unlimited like genesis, lots of folks complaining on that . i'm using the first island to laundry money, the other islands get so much rampage and tornados, i keep losing money (it doesnt trasnfer from parks), but i'm a billionair on the first island so i do all the projects there since they carry out lol.
