Taking off is easy because you are on an invisible runway. It looks as though you are on the sea, but the behaviour is like being on land with the ground supporting you.
However, if you try to land on water it is not supporting you in the way that real water supports the floats of a real floatplane.
Landing is extremely difficult frown
Somehow we need to address this matter if we really want to land on water with a reasonable success rate wink
I can land amphibians on water, with the gear down, so I am going to return to the old floatplane planeset and see what I can achieve.

Edit

I landed both the Catalina and the Spitfire floatplane. These have the old skins and FMs

I will try these old skins with the new FMs and see what happens smile

Jel, no problem landing on water over here with new FM's and skins. I just set the engine to idle and descend at a gentle rate. The AI planes do too.

More success with the new skins and models this time. You have to be slow, dead level, and no rudder.
It takes a lot of practice smile

Yep. like I said, throttle back and float down like a leaf. Heck, doesn't matter how long it takes, there lot's of water around.

It does seem more sensitive to rudder input as I have seen good landings with slightly non-level wings but any rudder and BOOM!

And the AI look to be veteran water landers.

I have about 1/4 of the FM's adjusted. Indeed I over compensated for the excess drag thus making the planes too powerful.

Tony,

Testing indicates it's a lot easier to land with the airspeed under 100 MPH, full flaps, engine at idle and just let the plane float down.
