I posted this over at 1C. Then I thought maybe I should do it on the Team Fusion site, too, at ATAG. So, I figured, why not Sim Hq, too? So here goes:
I pulled up some info on the coming 5.0 release and got some old postings about it. They went back to 2015. I'd forgotten that it had been in developement that long.
A 2015 post mentioned that they weren't going to make a 2015 release and it looked as though a late 2016 was more probable. It's 2018, and still no 5.0.
So, how about this? Some good stuff has already been done. We've seen the screenshots. Why waste all that work and have it just sitting there. Use the BOS sales model. Do a pre-order. And start releasing the sim in parts as they are ready. I have to believe that the Spitfire V is done, and we've seen screenshots of the 109F. If the Wellington is flyable and ready, let us have it.
I'd pre-order for sure. Lots of others would, too, I think. Why not consider that? Some money would start flowing in to keep the project going. It works for BOS, don't see why it wouldn't work for CLOD.

Yeah, over at the TF site at ATAG they told me, in a nice way of course, why this wasn't going to happen. And I suppose it would be risky to throw money thier way before seeing something tangible. I was reassured that is is coming out, however. And, I was told, sooner than a lot of people think.

Pre-orders and CLOD... that sounds a bit risky due to the precedent with that game. Yes, CLOD release was a disaster, 4.50 in many ways repeat this disaster, now only blind fans will make pre-order. IMO making lobby/pressure for TF rush 5.0 will only tends repeat previous disaster - what will be the last nail in CloD coffin.

TF Simulations is not allowed to make decisions about marketing strategies, that is done by 1C, under the terms of the agreement which allowed TF access to source code. Pooch, this was explained to you in the thread you started in the ATAG forums. IMHO, CloD in it's current state is excellent. I expect that version 5 will be even better. In many ways I prefer it to BoX, and I have both, play both. CloD is hands down the best thing out there for the specific historical period it covers, and for $10?
