Workmate sold me his barely used Razer Ornata Chroma Keyboard.

Turns out in order to change any settings - like the color of the keys - you need to create a logon with them. The offline driver software "Razer Synapse" will not allow you to run without logging into their cloud.

I see now that the same applies for their Mice and likely everything else.

So, well done Razer. You've created basic PC hardware like Keyboards and Mice that require online activation to fully use them.

I had the Razer Man o' War recently and the design was just flawed. The plastic would crack and I would lose the padding on the top of the headband. Took it in for a replacement, same thing happened to the second unit, so returned that too for a full refund and got me a Steelseries Siberia 840 instead.

I didn't mind the logon bit but most of the other Razer products are just too RGB for my tastes so I've not had any other Razer product except the Man o' War.

I've been a Logitech guy for a long time. I've yet to buy anything from Razer.

Logi for me too as far as keyboard/mice go! smile I totally blame one of the simmer guys for making what is essentially a wireless Track Clip Pro so I had to find a wireless headset to pair it with and it was an excuse to splurge. Stupid hobby!! biggrin

RGB is getting out of hand. LOL
I like a backlit keyboard, but not RGB. Recently got a Logitech G710+ that I like a lot. Cherry MX Brown key switches, backlit, some macro keys, USB pass through and a nice roller for the volume. Uses the Logitech unified driver, no login.

Colonel, that is the same reason I dumped Razer. I got tired of the constant start time hit for the checking of 'Cloud Settings' for my mouse.
I went to Corsair for Keyboard, mouse, and wireless head set. Very Happy.

RK, you can get RGB Mouse Pads now! Oh and a RGB Desk Stand for your headset.
Yeah, they are looking for the dollars.

I have a System/Drive LED light on the front of my Corsair case. Since it is in the bedroom, and on the side that my Wife sleeps, heaven forbid if the PC comes on at night.
D/FW Tower lights have nothing on that 50K Lumen LED light on the case! It starts flickering and you swear you are at a Techno Dance Club.
Needless to say that I get awaken gently by my lovely Bride to deal with the PC.... biggrin

On an 8-year old Logi Wave keyboard and it's starting to show it's age now; not all keys register when I type and part of me is just hoping it's a wireless connectivity issue smile Not really looking forward to when I need to look for a replacement keyboard. The mouse that came bundled with this has long since given up; I think it only lasted 3 years. Currently using a Logi G700s.

I'm going to use this one for the company laptop, with a business mail addy - if my colleagues don't kill me, it's a bit loud.

And get a Corsair with red lighting for my new build at home, to go with my red mouse.

I had a Razer Blackwidow mechanical keyboard. After almost two months of use it simply died. I don't move my keyboard around or anything. It was a design flaw that a lot of the 2013 models had (I believe it was 2013). Razer support made me install some bloatware to see if it would work again, which it didn't. I was covered by Amazon's extended holiday returns if I recall and sent it back. I bought a Coolermaster keyboard which I replaced last year. It works flawlessly as does my current Corsair.

I like just about anything by Corsair, but haven’t tried a keyboard...yet. Good brand.

I stopped using Razer products for the same reason a while back. Used to be a die hard razer mice supporter but now I use a Logitech mouse thats a few years old.

I used Razor products for years, at one time they made some of the best gaming peripherals, but they've seemed to jumped the shark in recent years.

On the other hand, I find their key switches to be much better than Logitech 's. A few months back I finally got the Blackwidow X Chroma I'd been putting off (my older Razer keyboard is a BW 2014 model).

I go for the clicky and noisy switches... they just feel better to me.

I have one of their older keyboards, the mechanical Blackwidow Ultimate blue LED keyboard, and the only time I have to use their software is if I want to use the macro functions on the device. The cloud feature isn't a bad idea, for if you lose your hard drives and data, the cloud will back up your macros and profiles, which I found pretty neat when I logged in after I lost all mine and viola, all the old stuff was still there.

I rarely use their software, though, and the other keyboard and LED features work fine without it.
