I just advanced my new CMDR to Elite (exploring) smile I achieved it before on another copy of the game but I decided to start again and just use the Cobra.

Personally I think exploring is the easiest way to Elite although it may not be the most exciting. Now I need another goal,I find it helps greatly. Fly safe Commanders!

Congrats on getting there again Chucky!

Yes, goals are essential for me. I recently mentioned in another thread that if I reach the point where I have no goals left I will quit. I am sure of it.

A new goal eh? Any contenders?

Engineer a FSD?
Reach Colonia or Sag A?
Find a black hole?
Reach Competent combat rank?
Reach Elite trade rank?
Own 30 ships? Or insert any number

No, now go away or I shall taunt you a second time!

Well, for this account I'm not sure. It's vanilla E:D so no engineering, although I'm still saving up those materials and data. I want to see what happens when I have 250/250 of something.

A black hole is something I would like to see but that should be an easy task.

If I'm going to reach trade Elite rank it will be on my other account. Not sure how long it would take to make trade Elite in a Cobra biggrin

I might take a break,I've been eying up the DCS FA-18 even though I'm not totally at home in the complex aircraft models. But £60 for 1 aircraft? That's steep. The only other game I'm playing atm is World of Tanks and then only 2 or 3 games at a time before I feel the need to smash something.

Congrats!

I'm a few percent away from Elite in both Exploration and Trade. My combat rank will never be Elite, lol.

What exactly do you mean by "other account"? Why have two?

Regardless, congrats on making Elite rank!!

Ice,I first bought the game direct from FD along with Horizons but when Steam had a sale I bought another copy because I wanted to start again but not lose all the work I'd put into the first one. I hope that makes sense, not everything I do always does smile

It kinda does, in a weird way smile Thanks for clarifying!

You've made me curious now though. What brought on this "start again" desire?

Not entirely sure but as DBond said,he would probably stop playing if he didn't set himself goals. The goal I set was Elite in a Cobra. Not sure what's coming next but probably drop to my other account and add trading Elite to my résumé.

Oh, so you've gotten Elite in Exploring in the other account so you needed this one to get Elite in Exploring again but in a Cobra? Interesting challenge there!

Good luck in your quest to get Elite in Trading with the Cobra!

£60 for one aircraft and you're only getting about 30-40% of what you'd expect to get from an F-18. Not saying that you should buy it or not but do some research before plunking down that £60. I'd happily pay it for an 80%-complete module but £60 for an aircraft that can't fire the AIM-120 or mount a TGP or drop precision munitions? Nothankyou!

Have you tried War Thunder? Like World of Tanks but without the HP system so a little bit more accurate in terms of damage modelling. You can die (or kill) with one-shots because frag made the ammo rack explode or took out all of your crew, etc.

Ice,I'm a regular visitor to the DCS section, although I don't add anything.I just sit on the sidelines watching what happens. I did promise myself once that I would never buy anything from DCS again and I'll probably stick to that for the foreseeable future tbh.

War Thunder is something I have enjoyed in the past, especially ground vehicles. I've just not visited it recently.

Good to know about DCS. I play the opposition there even though I would love to be proven wrong by ED. I'm amazed that I personally have not bought the Hornet; I did not think my self-control would go that far smile I hope the Tomcat fares much better even if it takes longer to be released!

I'm friends with a lot of SimHQ'ers on War Thunder but rarely see anyone online and have really yet to play with anyone on an organized level. I used to be in a group for WoT, but didn't last long when you needed gold ammo to win tournaments. frown Never really joined a group in WT.

I had a similar desire back a year or two ago, now. My CMDR had like $300-$400 million in assets, any ship I wanted, but I was feeling like the game became too easy, boring. I missed the challenges of the early struggles in smaller ships, the sense of struggle to upgrade each ship just to stay alive... Especially since I could afford almost anything on a whim.

So I deleted my entire account, goodbye all assets, and started over. Still glad I did that. Replaying those early-phase game experiences was a blast the second time through.
